Yvain, the Knight of the Lion is a chivalric novel written by Chretien de Troyes, and whose main protagonist Yvain, one of the knights of King Arthur's Court, who lives a series of adventures where it shows the honor and the system values prevailing at the time. A day in the court of King Arthur, Calogrenant recounts an episode about how he was humiliated by a gentleman who lives in a castle with a source who has magical powers. Yvain decides to avenge his cousin, killing the knight of the castle and after marrying the widow. However, the arrival of the King's court, Gawain convinces Yvain that marriage harms the reputation of a gentleman, as Yvain decides to leave his wife to live new adventures. While gaining a reputation as a gentleman, Yvain soon will be tormented for having lost his one true love, which will take you to the brink of insanity. Lost in the forest, sees a lion fighting a serpent, so that helps. In gratitude, he stays at his side, and both will live a series of adventures that eventually Yvain teach the true meaning of honour, friendship and love.

Yvain, el Caballero del León es una novela caballeresca escrita por Chrétien de Troyes, y que tiene como principal protagonista a Yvain, uno de los caballeros de la Corte del Rey Arturo, quien vive una serie de aventuras donde se demuestra el honor y el sistema de valores imperante en la época. Un día en la Corte del Rey Arturo, Calogrenant narra un episodio acerca de cómo fue humillado por un caballero que vive en un castillo con una fuente que tiene poderes mágicos. Yvain decide ir a vengar a su primo, matando al caballero del castillo y después casándose con la viuda. Sin embargo, a la llegada de la corte del Rey, Gauvain convence a Yvain de que el matrimonio hace daño a la reputación de un caballero, por lo que Yvain decide abandonar a su esposa para vivir nuevas aventuras. Aunque gana reputación como caballero, pronto Yvain se verá atormentado por haber perdido su único y verdadero amor, lo que lo llevará al borde de la locura. Perdido en el bosque, ve a un león combatiendo contra una serpiente, por lo que lo ayuda. En agradecimiento, éste se queda a su lado, y ambos vivirán una serie de aventuras que terminarán por enseñarle a Yvain el verdadero significado del honor, la amistad y el amor.
