Description

Game-Space is the title of an art installation by Jack Stenner and Patrick LeMieux, that is housed in various institutions, typically museums and galleries. This version is currently installed in The Harn Museum of Art in Gainesville, Florida. But Game-Space consists of more than a singular object or place. It is a simulation of a simulation, an affective portal exploring the perception of perception. It functions as a laboratory for experimentation with a hybrid subject. Game-Space is a machine for exploring subjectivity.

This application is intimately tied to the physical installation and is in realtime dialog with activities occurring within the space. As viewers traverse the physical location, their positions drive a simulation of their subject position. This simulation is visible using the Game-Space iPhone application and is titled "The Hybrid Subject." Similarly, the Game-Space iPhone application allows the viewer to experience the physical location from the point-of-view of a sculpture, called After Diboutades, that is installed in the space. Information regarding these works is available as part of the application, as well as on the game-space.org website.
