Description

* Winner of the 2010 Irish Web Awards and United Nations World Summit Award Mobile. *

Grace App is an evidence-based picture exchange app designed to encourage and reward independent communication through use of images rather than speech generation.

With Grace App, the user is encouraged to find, take, select images, and then point in order to communicate their needs. Grace App is not intended to be an app that replaces speech, but rather to encourage independent communication attempts that ensure the user is always understood.

Grace App works by offering a selection of categorised folders where users can select a picture to add to the “sentence strip” below.

Folders contain a selection of pre-loaded images, however, each folder can easily be edited to include the user's own images, which may already be stored on the device or photos taken via the camera while in Grace App. All images can be edited, deleted, or moved to suit the individual user.

The latest update of Grace App includes the ability to easily add or edit text onto any image in order to ensure that words are consistently prompted.

Grace App has an option to enlarge the sentence on the iPad view when sharing, and a choice of 3 card sizes for those with visual/mobility impairment.

And finally, we have added the option to Tap Card to speak for users with additional needs. Grace App’s default setting is set to "no sound" to encourage the user to attempt their own vocalisations with the pictures serving as a visual prompt.

To help you make an informed choice, the Grace App manual is available for download from www.graceapp.com where you will also find a selection of videos demonstrating Grace App in use. Grace App supports and enables therapeutic strategies for developing other communication goals such as accepting “No” and “Wait” - “Asking for Help”, and “Tell me where it hurts”.

Grace App is truly international and after installing the user can decide between a choice of 7 different languages. Currently available in English, French, German, Spanish, Danish, Portuguese and Arabic with more to follow on request. We have also updated our images to include more “healthy foods” as requested by users from around the world (but never by our original user: Grace Domican).

Grace App has been improved with the feedback and help of users world wide. If you have any suggestions or need support, please contact us at www.graceapp.com.
