Taking a cab in an unknown large city (or any city, for that matter) can be quite an adventure. The driver may be the best guide you might ever find, but then again, he might not... Several cab drivers try to make extra cash by ripping of foreign passengers simply because they can, the passenger isn’t familiar with the city and more often that not won’t notice the “taking the longer route”.

The Taxi meter application might save you money in cities that you are not familiar with. If it saves you just one extra kilometer or mile the app has already paid for itself. But we’re quite sure it will save you more than that... and no, we won’t object if you buy it more that once :)

Easily see whether the cab driver is taking an optimal route (or at least close to one) or if he is trying to make some extra money by taking “the scenic” route (oh, let us just call it as it is: if he’s driving you around in circles). You can enter the fare rate and check if his meter is accurate (never trust technology... except this app of course).

The best way to prevent taxi rip-offs is to show the driver you have your taxi meter app and let him know in advance that you are checking his route and prices. That way you will avoid getting into an argument later on. If you’re a really big guy (and he is not) you might of course skip this step)

Please send us any rip-off stories, and you can always describe them in a review...
