Since 2010, we have continually updated ourdatabase to help foreigners pass the Chinese driver's license exam. In January 2013, the point deductions used to penalize drivers has changed (improved!) significantly.

While we refresh the app, please refer below for the most important changes.

Note: when 12 points are deducted, your license is suspended.

All 12 points will be deducted if you do any of the following:

· Exceed the posted speed limit by more than 50%;
· Drive without a license plate, or drive with the license plate covered, stained, forged or damaged;
· Drive with forged documents, including, but not limited to a driver’s license or blue book;
· Drive after drinking any amount of alcohol; or,
· Drive in reverse or make a U-turn on the highway.

6 points will be deducted if you do any of the following:

· Run a red light;
· Run a yellow light (temporarily warning only);
· Park on the highway;
· Drive in the emergency lane; or
· Fail to yield right-of-way to a school bus.

3 points will be deducted if you do any of the following:

· Drive slower than the posted speed limit on the highway;
· Do not drive in the correct lane;
· Do not reduce speed before pedestrian crossing (zebra lines);
· Do not put required warning signs on the roadside during vehicle breakdown; or
· Fail to renew your annual inspection in a timely manner.

2 points will be deducted if you do any of the following:

· Use a handheld cell phone while driving;
· Do not stop before an intersection; or
· Do not wear your seatbelt while driving.

1 point will be deducted if you do the following:

· Do not use your vehicle lights properly.
· Do not have proper documents with you while you are driving, such as the annual inspection papers, blue book, and driver’s license.
