Anchors Aweigh is here for your safety. It is a tool that continually monitors your position and will alert you if you drift too far from an anchor point.

It uses the new advanced capabilities of iOS 4 and multitasking to alert you *the very moment* that you have drifted too far. You no longer need to check in with the app - it sits in the background and will tell you when the situation has become dangerous.

Boaters, have you ever set your anchor - only to wonder a couple hours later whether you have drifted perhaps a little too far? Sure you have, we all have. But it's sometimes hard to tell if you don't have a reference near by or with a mix of drinks and sleep. Worry no more. You can tell the app at what depth and scope you have set the anchor, and it will tell you if it thinks you're dragging! You will be notified immediately so that you can take corrective action immediately.

Everyone else, this app makes for a great position keeper. Have you ever lost your car in a parking lot? No more. Just set the location as an anchor point and you will know where the car is on a map, and how far you are from it.

The background mode is only supported on iPhone4 and 3GS devices. It can also be disabled if you need to conserve battery life. If you disable it, you will still be able to track the anchor point by running the app.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
