Shantal is a story about a girl’s passage to find the rationale behind her father’s untimely death.

Shantal is Jatayu’s daughter, the vulture king who was slain while trying to save Sita from being abducted.

Her journey leads her to whom she believes is the culprit, but at the end she must choose whether to choose revenge or to follow in her father’s footsteps, and stay true to herself.

The story takes place on the night Ram returns to Ayodhya after his 14-year exile. Rooted in the Indian values that take Ram’s treatment of his stepmother Kaikeyi as an example, this story presents a hero’s internal struggles and the choice between good and evil.

This beautifully illustrated comic is designed to introduce the reader to the concepts that prevail in Indian heritage.
