Description

VidSit aims to provide parents, caretakers, babysitters, teachers, and other adults in general with a unique method of interaction with children when they are not physically able to do so.

VidSit does this through mobile applications that can be used by children on tablets and smartphones.

In this particular application, VidSit provides two benefits:

1) Cause and Effect Relationships:

a) A great ‘cause and effect’ relationship game is when an adult points out and identifies different facial features (e.g. head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth…) and then asks a child to copy by pointing to and repeating the name of the facial feature. Until the child points to and repeats the name of the facial feature in response, the game does not go on.

- With the VidSit app, when anyone records themselves pointing to and saying aloud a facial feature, during playback of that video within the VidSit app, a child will need to say the facial feature aloud (or attempt to say something in general) before the video will continue playback. Thus, a child will learn that when they speak, it causes the effect of a video to continue playback.

- As the VidSit app allows playback of any video in the camera roll, no matter what language(s) is being spoken, the VidSit app will allow anyone in the video to interact with the child in their preferred language(s).

b) When an adult turns on the Auto-Pause Playback feature for a video, they have two additional parameters that they can set:

- Auto-Pause Sound Meter – By increasing this threshold, the app will filter out more background noise to focus on your child's verbal responses to continue playing a video.

- Auto-Pause Time – By increasing the Auto-Pause Time, a video will pause by default after the designated time period and wait for a child to speak at a volume that satisfies the Auto-Pause Sounce Meter before continuing playback.

2) Observation - Video Babysitter

a) While an adult may be on vacation or otherwise unavailable to interact with the child, by playing back a video recorded by the adult, a child will recognize the adult in the video and may try to engage with the adult on a screen, much like a child interacts with the adult during a video phone call.

b) Using the ‘facial feature game’ example discussed above, after an adult records a video where they identify different facial features, anyone can initiate playback of that video via the VidSit app.

c) With the Record feature turned on, when a child is holding the device and/or sitting at a table with the device in front of them, the VidSit app will record the child and their interaction with the video being played back.

d) The recorded video will be available for anyone to playback and observe the child following along. The recorded video will also allow for an adult to determine if there are some areas that may need more emphasis with their child to be able to follow along.

With the VidSit app, anyone can engage their child at ANYTIME!
