Wouldn’t it be great to give your child a head start with his or her reading skills? Educators agree that learning the Dolsch Sight Words is a mandatory step in making fluent readers.
These sight words make up 60% or more of the words used in classroom books, and educators agree that they should be learned by sight and not by phonics (as many of the word cannot be sounded out). It’s a fact that children who master the sight words make better readers whether English is their first language or if they are English language learners (ELL). Reading is a fundamental skill for a child to be successful in school.

QuikTap Words is a fun game aimed at making better readers by allowing children to play continuously with the highly regarded Dolsch Sight Words that are grouped by grades preK, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade. It is a game that can be played by young preschoolers, by the older 3rd graders, or by a child of any age who needs practice or is struggling with his or her reading skills.

QuikTap Words groups the sight words into 5 groups within each grade. A group can contain 8 to 12 words; Group 1 contains the easier words and Group 5 contains to more difficult words. The child can start with Group 1 and advance to higher groups as he or she masters the words and gains more confidence.

Quiktap Words has two different modes of operation. First is the Game Mode that begins when the [Start Game] button is touched. In the Game Mode the game presents words and the player must repeat the words by tapping the large word buttons; words may be tapped in any order. The game starts slow with one word and becomes more challenging as multiple words are displayed (1 word – then 2 words – then 3 words and so forth). The player can stop playing and practice the words by touching the [Practice Words] button. In the Practice Mode each word in the Group(s) selected are presented and sounded out in a flash card format. The player may switch back and forth freely between the Game Mode and Practice Mode. Finally, with [Settings] the player can select the grade and word groups and can set the number of words to display on the game screen.

The core objective of teaching the Dolsch Sight Vocabulary for grades Pre-K through Grade 3 is the same because these 200+ sight words make up 50-60% of all the words in school books. Educators agree that kids who master these words by sight are better readers and they get better grades.

Upgrades include:
New Navigation buttons make it easier to move between screens

New game logic and display that give positive feedback based on word knowledge

Words are displayed at the top and answers are entered on the bottom half of the screen

Answers can be entered in any order – no longer requires answers to be entered in a strict sequence
