Description

• Connect with the History that Shaped California •

In Gold Country you relive history that started California on its way as the "Golden State". The gold rush made California a state and set the tone for an optimistic, entrepreneur, can do attitude that still prevails. Towns in gold country are much like they were 150 years ago -- Columbia has been recreated to that era. This setting is rolling foothills with trees that turn ablaze with color in late fall. A visit here immerses you in this history -- you see and feel the dreams of the miners and merchants, the hard life they led, their mining methods, entertainment, blacksmith shops, general stores, saloons, churches, jails, stage coaches, vigilante justice and banks and connects you to this era.

A good climate above the valley fog and below most of the snow in the winter, warm days the rest of the year and close lakes and ski areas, good motels and B&B's, casinos and a great choice of restaurants make this an ideal area to visit all year.
