Description

beProt (be Protected) application has been developed in order to improve life safety of its users. The software allows you to monitor the movement of people and to automatically detect a fall in order to ensure safety in the workplace and in private life. It automatically detects a fall of a monitored person. The information about this is sent to the pre-programmed cell phone numbers of e.g. a caretaker or a relative of a monitored person who, after having received information about the fall, make their own decision about how and when to take remedial action.
The program is designed for:

• the elderly at increased risk of falls due to ageing

• people at risk of falls due to health problems such as those resulting from cardiac disease

• people at risk of attack/ assault performing high-risk jobs such as guard duty and security services, municipal services, fire brigades

• employees working alone such as warehouse workers, gas station workers, those working outside normal working hours (repair crews, cleaners), foresters, bus drivers, taxi drivers, post workers, heavy construction equipment operators, sappers

If case of emergency, the owner of the phone can send an SOS message by touching just one icon on the screen of the phone. If the owner of the phone feels at risk, they can initiate the delayed alarm activation procedure by touching the Amber icon. If this procedure is not interrupted for a certain period of time, an alarm message will be sent to the response centre. The pre-programmed delay time is sufficient for the emergency situation to pass spontaneously.

The alarm message contains information about the current location of the person being monitored.

By touching just one icon you can start a voice call (phone call) on a pre-programmed cell phone number.

The monitored person may determine the extent of safety zone. They will be notified every time when they come in or out the defined area. In this case, an alarm notification is also sent. The application helps the user to get back to the safety zone by showing them the direction and distance to the central point of the zone.

To take full advantage of all the features of the application, it is necessary to use external services which allow you to automatically send text messages (currently the default service provider is nexmo.com).

The fall detection procedure is based on an algorithm running inside the phone which does not send any data to external servers. The only form of communication with the external environment is carried out by sending text messages in case of emergency (by using www.nexmo.com) to the pre-programmed phone numbers.

It is assumed that you always have your cell phone with you.

Be aware of the fact that while the beProt application is running, the phone battery life may be shorter.

The beProt software is not intended for use as a medical or life-saving system.
