Hooked on Phonics Reading Karaoke is a toe-tapping romp through the “Best of Hooked on Phonics” music that is sure to get the whole family laughing, singing, and (most of all) reading! It’s a super sampler of ten favorite songs from our two big reading programs: Hooked on Phonics Learn to Read and The Big Reading Show with an added interactive Karaoke-twist.

• Play Mode: Enjoy these catchy, silly, and extremely singable music videos that display the sing-along lyrics underneath. Even pre-readers and early readers will be able to follow along and practice reading the lyrics while they sing.

• Karaoke Mode: Now you try it! Switch to karaoke mode by turning off the vocals leaving only the accompaniment. That way you can make your own wonderful music.

• Record Mode: Show off your talents and be the Star of the Show! Use the record mode to make a video of child (or yourself!) singing your favorite Hooked on Phonics songs. Better yet, make a video of the whole family singing “The Big Pig Song” and upload it to your Facebook page or email it to your friends.


As with all of the Hooked on Phonics apps, Reading Karaoke is as educational as it is fun. Each song has an information section so parents will know what the learning objectives are, and each video is ranked on a scale of 1-5 microphones to indicate how difficult the song is to sing and master.

Reading Karaoke helps children—from toddlers and preschoolers to Kindergarteners and First-Graders—learn and explore letter sounds, rhyming, phonemic awareness, and other Foundational Reading Skills. It's a great way for kids (ages 3 to 103!) to sing, read, laugh, and have fun--together.
