Description

Color Wheel is an application to help people (programmers, designers, etc...) find sets of colors that work well together. Choose between Complimentary, Analogous, Triadic, Split-Complimentary, Tetradic, and Square color schemes. Adjust the tint / shade and transparency of the color. Once you have a set (palette) that you like, share it (Twitter, Facebook, email, copy to pasteboard, etc...)

Ignore the clueless negative reviews

This is a simple but functional RGB color wheel. The negative reviews are mistaking it for an incorrect RYB color wheel (used by painters in a subtractive pigment world). If you don’t know the difference, google color theory and color vision. It'll be a wonderful rabbit hole ending in the realization that color isn’t real.

The only complaint I have with this app is the inability to mix hues of different lightness or saturation in the same scheme. Real life schemes usually need more variety in multiple dimensions.

This is such a handy app for artists!

I was hesitant to try this app because of some older reviews that stated it was inaccurate, but I’m so glad I did! (Any inaccuracies have been fixed, by the way). I enjoy painting, and had considered purchasing a manual color wheel from an art supply store, but this app does everything I need! You can slide along the wheel to choose a color, then select from various color schemes (complimentary, analog, split, triad, square, rectangle). The basic colors on the wheel itself are fixed, but there is a slider for changing the tint/shade and transparency, so the tinted/shaded colors that you choose will appear on the corners of the screen, outside of the wheel. Click “show,” and the tinted/shaded you’ve chosen will appear as a palette of larger swatches, along with their corresponding RGB and UI Color values. And palettes can be shared with a “share” function. Thank you for creating such a functional app! I love it!

Colors wrong place on wheel

As other reviews state colors wrong place. Red and blue are not complements! Even the directions say red and green are complements. Otherwise would be a nice app to have.
