Impossible to achieve drawings like the examples without apple pencil support

Without proper pressure sensibility it is impossible to achieve gesture lines like the examples provided. So probably people will feel frustrated for not achieving good drawings even though they do it as the lesson intended. Beside this deal breaker, app is well done and lessons are well adapted for this format. Advice, get the old books if you can, grab some paper and pencil, start drawing and skip this app.

Could’ve been the best drawing learning app

Although this app was abandoned 4 years ago without recent updates, I write this review as a plea to the developers and people in charge to consider revamping this real drawing learning app.

For years I watched others a few others try to make drawing teching apps, and most didn’t come near teaching the way this app does from the book lessons. Even now, no app is on this level of teaching making a drawing from shapes, using proper tools, and shading, and so on. The complaints and bad reviews are just people frustrated with the app not being updated anymore. I don’t know what happened or if the licenses are still good but this app could be a moneymaker and no doubt should have been.

Walter Foster has long made some of the best books on teaching how to actually learn to draw. I own some of the books these lessons are based on. There are a ton of books on drawing but not many are made to actually teach the skill by people qualified to teach it. But Walter Foster books are. They look older and don’t have eye catching huge flashy titles like “Draw 50 monsters.” (Those books don’t teach, it’s just someone who copied parts of the design over into steps. That’s not how you learn drawing. Drawing is shapes, and training the eye to draw them, usually from big to smaller details, just way Walter Foster does in these lessons.)

Not very practical

This app is well made for its purposes but not very practical for the user. It would be better to teach how to draw on iPad, specifically what settings to use, not so much how to draw traditionally. That would be more useful. It is difficult to make the realistic drawings look right on iPad. Also I would like the option to pay one time for this app, not for each book.
