Apple Schedules 'Let's talk iPhone' Event For 4th October

Apple has invited several members of the press to a special "Let's Talk iPhone" event on October 4th, which can only mean one thing: an official announcement of at least one new iPhone. Strangely, the event is being held at Apple's Cupertino campus rather than in San Francisco - the venue for all previous iPhone and iPad launches. It's still unknown whether we'll see the iPhone 5, the iPhone 4S, or both at the unveiling, though you can probably rule out an iPad 3. We can safely assume that the highly anticipated iOS 5 software update will also receive a slice of the attention next Tuesday, with some new details and a more definite release date presumably forthcoming. Hopefully.…

Halbrick's Jetpack Joyride Gets Updated With New Vehicles and Playable Character

Australian developer Halfbrick's rather excellent Jetpack Joyride has been updated with some wacky new extras, as well as some almost mandatory bug fixes and tweaks. The foul-mouthed Barry Steakfries can now pilot two brand-new vehicles, including the ironically named Mr. Cuddles (a giant robot dragon), and the fruit jetpack. The latter is a nod to Halfbrick's smash hit slice-'em-up Fruit Ninja, and sprays the ground with fruit and juice as you speed past hazards. Barry is also joined by new character Honest Phil: an 'awesome Australian dude' based on Halfbrick's real-life CMO Phil Larsen. You can grab this 5/5 title from the App Store right now for just 99c.…

Tiger Style Show Off Screenshots For Upcoming iPhone Sci-Fi Side-Scroller

The development team behind 5* adventure / puzzle game Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor have released a bunch of screenshots for their upcoming sci-fi side-scroller Lost Mars. Now, we don't much about the game - hardly anything, in fact - so it's a good job that Tiger Style are set to showcase their new title this Sunday at the Juegos Rancheros festival in Austin, Texas. Prety much the only thing that we do know is that the game is "one part METROID, one part 1970s-era sci-fi film, and one part…gardening?!" That could mean absolutely anything, but it does sound intriguing. Feast your eyes on the screenies below, folks.…
