The best games on sale on iPad and iPhone right now - December 7th

By , on December 7, 2016

It’s Wednesday, so that can only mean one thing. It’s time to take a look at the best games that are on sale on the App Store right now. It probably means other things as well, but let’s not concern ourselves with them.

There’s a few gems here, and we’re only too happy to help you to save a bit of money. So if you’ve been umming and aahing about whether you should spend on these, now’s the time to take the plunge.

And as we all know plunging is a lot of fun. It’s the capitalist version of freedom of expression. Or something like that. Anyway here are the games.

A super simple digital version of a super simple card game. This one’s well worth a look if you like games that are easy to pick up and play yet offer a whole bunch of possibilities as you get deeper.

There’s a single player mode, and a number of different multiplayer modes that you can have a poke at as well. And it’s only 99c, which is cheap as chips. Do people still say that?

Junk Jack Retro

One of the original side-scrolling crafting adventures, Junk Jack Retro used to be called Junk Jack. But Junk Jack X is now called Junk Jack. It’s a bit confusing, but it’s still worth picking it up.

Anyway, mine stuff, build stuff, go on adventures, and generally have a lovely time making your own way through a world that’s built to be as much fun as possible.

Wizards and Wagons

A strange mix of tower defence, trading, and resource management. In a world where the big bad has already been defeated, what does a hero do?

The answer, as far as Wizards and Wagons is concerned, is they become a travelling merchant. There are some neat ideas here, and for this low price it’s well worth picking up.

This one’s a clever mix of platformer and puzzler that sees you playing a skeleton. And any game that lets you play as a skeleton is fine by me.

With an interesting art style and a bunch of intriguing ideas, this is an intriguing platformer that got a bit lost when it first came out. Right that wrong and grab it now for a bit cheaper.

Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon

A massive strategy game set in the grim darkness of the far future. It’s not that close to the tabletop game it’s based on, but it manages to get the gloomy tone of the source material spot on.

Giant armies clash on dirty, gothic battlefields. And right now you can pick it up for half price. Which is a pretty damn good deal.
