It’s Thursday, so that means it’s time for the Thursday find, our weekly look at a hidden gem that’s crept out on the App Store over the past week.

And this week we’ve got a bit of a doozy for you. It’s a sharp angled one-tap arcade game that does things a little differently.

You might have noticed that games that do things a little differently are our favourite sort of games here at AppSpy. And that shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, since we’re a little different too.

So here’s this week’s Thursday find. If you’ve got an interesting game you’d like to point us towards, feel free to do it in the comments below. Please. Oh lord please talk to me.

Breakout Ninja

So imagine you’re a little ninja, and you’re trying to escape from a maximum security prison that’s surrounded by guards with red glowing eyes. What’s the best way to do it?

By tapping, obviously. This is a mobile game after all. But the game actually puts some constraints on your tapping, and by doing so it becomes a much more interesting and engaging experience

Rather than just jumpingover obstacles and kicking guards in the teeth, here you need to tap when the little ninja is within a circle. Tap at the right time and he’ll perform the required move. Get it wrong and your run comes to an ignominious end.

The circles have smaller circles within them. Tap when you’re in these itty bitty circles and you’ll get a perfect hit, which boosts your score even further.

The aim of the game is to score as many points as possible. Smash out enough points and you’ll advance a level in your ninja training. Which is what you’re trying to do.

It might not be the deepest game out there, but as quick-bite tappy tap tap tap experiences go, it’s an awful lot of fun.

Pick it up, give it a crack, and see if you’ve got what it takes to become the greatest ninja that ever kicked its way through a wooden guard tower.
