The week has drifted by like a vape cloud in a trendy Shoreditch hotspot, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to lay down and let the weekend have its wicked way with you. There’s still time for one more chunk of content.

And it’s a good chunk. It’s the five best games that came out on iPhone and iPad this week. What more could you want? I mean loads of stuff, loads and loads of stuff. But this is what you’re getting.

There were some really great games this week, and I reckon everyone’s going to find something exciting and entertaining out of this little lot.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

A dark and wonderfully awful action RPG that sees you working your way through a series of nightmarish dungeon levels filled with the sort of hideous creatures that’ll make you shudder.

It’s super difficult, super good, and this mobile version is a wonderfully playable portable version of a bona fide indie classic.

Sonny

Another RPG, but this time a little more traditional. You play the titular Sonny, who’s a super powered zombie and is out to kick the apocalypse in the face.

You’ll get new characters as you play and take out waves of gross enemies. A solid, smart premium mobile RPG.

Xenoraid

A slightly strange shooter that sits in the past and the present. Weave around killing waves of alien invaders in your modified space shuttle.

There are plenty of interesting ideas here, and while it isn’t as frenetic as some space-based blasters, it’s definitely worth a look.

Shards of Memory

A puzzler that’s part jigsaw, part narrative adventure. It’s a strange mix, but it just about manages to work.

Slow-paced and simple to understand, it’s the story here that’ll push you to get to the end of the adventure.

Star Wars: Force Arena

A spectacular MOBA that sits between Clash Royale and Vainglory. And it’s chock full of famous Star Wars faces too. Like loads of them.

Bite-sized battles, 2v2 or 1v1 battles and a training ground mean there’s always something to do, and a card collecting system means you’ll want to keep playing even when your fingers are sore and your eyes are bleeding.
