This week we're going to be taking a look at Star Wars: Force Arena, the new mobile MOBA set in the Star Wars universe. It's got Luke, it's got Leia, it's got a load of other characters and a lot of scrapping to boot.

But there are plenty of mechanics and menus as well, and they might throw you off when you're getting started. Don't worry though, because that's what we're here for. In this series we're going to walk you through the basics and then throw some more advanced tips and tricks at you.

You'll also find a lot of coverage over on our sister site Pocket Gamer. I mean, don't tell anyone, but it won't be as tip top as what you'll find on AppSpy, but that's life. Anyway, here goes.

The basics

If you've not heard of the game before, let me break it down for you. This is a 1vs1 or 2vs2 MOBA. You control a hero or villain and a number of units. You use these to destroy your enemy's base and protect your own.

Matches take three minutes, and you earn points for the turrets you destroy. There are three enemy turrets and three friendly ones. Each side also has a base. Destroy the base and you win the game automatically.

Your units are all represented by cards, and they each have an associated energy cost. Your energy meter is in the bottom right of the screen, and it recharges automatically.

Your leader also has a special move. This is on a cool-down, so you need to make sure you use it at the right time otherwise you'll be wasting it, and that's not cool.

The game is split up into tiers. Do well and you'll move up tiers. Do badly and you'll move down. There are plenty of rewards to earn as well, and we'll get to them later in the series.

The key to success is to use your energy wisely. And that's something we're going to take a look at in much more detail in the next instalment of the series. So make sure you come back tomorrow.
