The big non-mobile release this week is probably Nier: Automata. It's a big gloomy hack and slash ARPG from the dev behind Bayonetta, and apparently it's really, really good. Y'know, if you're into that sort of thing.

But what if you're into that sort of thing and you want to play on, oh I don't know, A MOBILE PHONE!?! Madness, I know, but you're hanging out with us here at AppSpy so I'm gonna guess you're probably into mobile gaming ever so slightly.

So here are some games that share a tiny piece of DNA with Nier:Automata. And I do mean a tiny piece. Like, this is some seriously tangential stuff going on right here, but I gotta keep the content wolves from the content door, ya feel me?

Oh, and click on the emboldened names of the games to be taken to the App Store, from whence you can download them until your phone memory runs out and you lose the will to live / download.

Yup, that's a pricy adventure, but on the flip side of that it's one of the most original and engaging mobile games Square Enix has released in a very long time. Plus it looks gorgeous.

It might focus on its RPG elements more then Nier: Automata does, but that doesn't mean you should ignore it. It's fun, it's bright, and there are hours and hours of game to lose yourself in here.

A slightly less pricy adventure. This one's a port of a game that did really well on a variety of different consoles, but it's been preened and pruned for mobile and it works brilliantly.

A sometimes sad, sometimes funny action RPG that looks stunning. If you haven't played this one yet then you really should.

An open world survival experience with a cheeky swagger in its step. It takes a while to get going, but when things kick off it's incredibly addictive.

Build. Fight. Survive. And do a lot more than that as well. This is definitely the best made-for-mobile survival RPG, and it's the sort of thing that you should definitely have played by now. So get on it.
