The 5 best games for iPhone and iPad this week - June 1st

By , on June 2, 2017

Happy Friday. As everyone around here knows, Friday is the day of the week when we take stock, look at the mess we've made of the week, and try and make some sense of it. Or, in other words, we look at the five best games that came out on the App Store this week.

It's not been a vintage seven days, to be honest, but after some of the gems we've had in the last few months that's only to be expected. Still, there are some pretty solid entries to the list this week, and that's not something to sniff at.

As usual you can click on the emboldened name of the games below to download them. And if you think we've missed anything out, feel free to stick your own suggestions in the comment section all the way down at the bottom of the article.

Bouncy Hoops

A slick basketball game that's simple to pick up and pretty darn difficult to put down. It's basically flappy balls, but with points for scoring baskets instead of making it through gaps in pipes. Oh, and it's a lot better than I just made it sound.

Yankai's Peak

A puzzler that really loves pyramids. It's all about pushing shapes around 130 different levels, solving the challenges that are thrown in your general direction. There are plenty of mechanics to understand, and enough here to keep you playing for a good few weeks.

Oh... Sir! The Hollywood Roast

A sort of sequel, this one's all about insulting people in Hollywood, as you can tell from all of the words and punctuation marks that make up its name. Variations on pop culture icons say mean things to each other and it's all actually quite a lot of fun.

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier

Most of this one has been out for a while, but with the last part now hitting the App Store I figured it was time to tell you to have a crack at it. Deep and dark and probably the best Telltale TWD game since the first one. It'll probably make you cry, if you have any of those weird emotion things.

Predynastic Egypt

A big massive strategy game that will either make you drool with joy or dribble with boredom - it all sort of depends on how you look at things. It's not all fighting though. You're guiding Egyptian civilisation through a huge span of real history.
