The AppSpy end of year awards: The 3 best games for iPhone and iPad of August 2017

By , on December 29, 2017

And we're up to August 2017 in our round-up of the best games of the year. August was warm. Or it might have been cold. I don't really remember. It was a long time ago, a lot has happened since then. I think I spent most of the month asleep in hotels.

Anyway, you can click below to check out the rest of the parts of this series. I hope you do, I've put a lot of work into this. Come back next week and we'll go back to school with September 2017. Surely I must remember something that happened then.

Titanfall: Assault

A lot of games have come out this year that have tried to ape the successes of Clash Royale. This one pushed things much further than the rest, adding a level of tactics to proceedings. It looks gorgeous, it plays brilliantly, and it offers some of the best multiplayer that the App Store has to offer.

Cat Quest

A massive adventure that plays around with the shape of the genre to fit it into your pocket. It's full of heart and charm, and it looks really impressive as well. Plus it's full of cats, and anyone with any soul is going to be super pleased with that fact. I think there's dragons as well, but they're not as awesome as cats. Not really.

Miracle Merchant

Another game in the Card Crawl series, this time though you're not playing an adventurer, you're playing the titular merchant. You need to deal out potions to your queue of customers. There are special mixtures to make, and as solitair card games go, this one is pretty hard to beat.
