With E3 looming on the horizon, this week has been a veritable smorgasbord of trailers and teasers. To save you tiring out your clicking finger, we've compiled the most interesting ones in this week's AppSpy News Wrap-Up. Enjoy.

Plants vs. Zombies 2 coming to iOS on July 18th

It’s been a long time coming, but the Plants vs. Zombies sequel is nearly upon us. It’s called Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time, and will shuffle onto our lawns on July 18th. Much like the most recent Cut the Rope sequel, this fertile follow up will propel the player between different periods of history.

The developer has also announced that PvsZ 2 will be a freemium title. Shifting the franchise into free-to-play territory is likely to affect the mechanics, with upgrades available for purchase, as well as certain in-game items.

PopCap do know their stuff when it comes to mobile, though, so we trust they’ll find a way to implement the freemium model without crippling the gameplay we know and love. Keep your eye out for our green fingered review,

Gameloft releases Modern Combat 5 teaser

Speaking of sequels, Gameloft has just released the debut trailer for Modern Combat 5. This teaser delivers almost exactly what you would expect a Modern Combat trailer to deliver: explosions, a veritable fleet of high-powered military vehicles, and enough flying bullets to make the geriatric cast of The Expendables nod creakily in approval.

And guns. Did we mention the guns?

Unfortunately, Gameloft hasn’t given us a release date. However, it did tag the video as an 'E3 trailer', suggesting that more details may surface during the expo itself. When we know more, so will you.

Next Deux Ex game coming to iPhone and iPad

Here’s something we weren’t expecting: Square Enix's next Deus Ex game is coming not to home consoles, but to iPhone and iPad. Entitled Deux Ex: The Fall, the game will be a fully-fledged first-person RPG action title, just like its console counterpart Deux Ex: Human Revolution.

Rather than being a neutered version of the console title, executive game director at Eidos Montreal Jean-François Dugas insists that Deux Ex: The Fall will be "the full Deus Ex experience," including "exploration, action, hacking, stealth, social enhancers, player choice, and consequence".

The video has met with some hostility from fans who were perhaps expecting a home console sequel. We’re intrigued by the we’ve seen, and look forward to finding out more at E3.

Man of Steel flyng onto the App Store next week

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a potentially lucrative movie tie-in. Yep, Warner Bros has just dropped the first trailer for its upcoming superhero brawler Man of Steel. From the looks of things you’ll steeping into the PVC bodysuit of Superman a.k.a Clark Kent a.k.a Kal-El, and beating the snot out of General Zod and his warmongering associates.

As you can see, there’ll be plenty of ground level fisticuffs, with some air combat and heat beam attacks to liven things up. We’re not too sure how expansive the environments will be, or whether they’ll be more to Man of Steel than just wailing on aliens, but we’ll find out when the game arrives next Friday, June 14th.
