Cut the Rope: Time Travel gets Disco Era update

Om Nom is taking yet another step back in time this week, courtesy of Cut the Rope: Time Travel's Disco Era Update. In addition to meeting Om Nom's groovy ancestor, you have to wrap your perm around the new disco ball mechanic, which requires you to use the shiny spheres to keep the spotlight away from those all important candies. Pirate Legends TD sails onto the App Store next week

We love a bit of tower defence here on AppSpy, It's one of those genres that feels like it's been designed exclusively for the App Store. With that in mind, you might want to keep an eye out for Pirate Legends TD. Due out on iOS next week, this aquatic actioner tasks you with defending a pirate ship from oncoming waves of unscrupulous seadogs.

There are over 30 different enemy type to fend off, and 20 different towers to defend yourself with, including the Harpoon Shark Hunter, and the Puffer Fish. The campaign also boasts secondary objectives, and reactive water which can (if manipulated correctly) wash advancing ships away from your precious vessel. Plus its gorgeous. It's out next Thursday, so expect a review to follow.

EA reveals puzzle-RPG Tetris: Monsters

With the world reeling from the astonishing success of GungHo's Puzzle & Dragons (which rakes in around $2.5 million dollars per day), developers are looking to marry RPG mechanics with puzzle tropes to try and capture their own lucrative lightning in a bottle.

EA's effort is Tetris: Monsters, a game which retro-fits the classic block puzzler with an RPG battle component. It's due out in Japan later this year, though there's no word on a western launch yet. Is it too late to jump on the Puzzle & Dragons bandwagon? We shall see.

Anomaly 2 coming to iOS this autumn

Finally this week, With Anomaly Warzone Earth and Anomaly Korea riding high in our AppSpy approval charts, we've been wondering when 11 bit studio were planning on bringing the true sequel, Anomaly 2, over from the PC onto iOS.

Well, it turn out that the answer is: soon. Due to arrive on the App Store this autumn, the futuristic tower-offense sequel will see you marching another convoy of mechanical war machines through city streets, and reducing any towers you come across to scrap metal. We expect the 14 mission campaign to arrive in tact, and hope that the multiplayer mode will also make an appearance.

Best of all, every one of your metallic entourage can morph into a secondary combat form, giving you new ways to satisfy your appetite for destruction. We're excited, and think you should be too.
