Top 7 Platformers on iPhone and iPad

One of the very first games I fell in love with as a youngster was Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Ever since then I've had a soft spot for platformers.

The App Store has tons of great games that require you leap from one ledge to another, occasionally crushing enemies beneath your feet. However, to save you sifting though the whole lot,  I've gone ahead and whittled them down to the seven crucial ones you absolutely must play.

Oh, and as I note in the video, you'll find none of that auto-runner stuff in this list. I love a bit of Temple Run, but this video is dedicated to traditional-style platformers: with levels and goals and endings.

Have you seen "Dokuro," which was just released for 99 cents? I think it's a PSP port. Pretty cool platformer-puzzler

Mikey Shorts & Mikey Hooks are solid platformers. Shorts was free recently. May be so still. There need to be more platformers with grappling hooks!

1-Bit Ninja and Swordigo are a couple of my favorites
I suppose there's Stealth Inc. and Icycle: On Thin Ice as well, though I haven't played enough of either to call them some of the best just yet
Sonic CD, LIMBO, and Type: Rider definitely deserved their place on that list, though. Great roundup, Peter!
