Regular AppSpy readers will know that I have a soft spot for Super Hexagon. This minimalist twitch masterpiece was cooked by Terry Cavanagh, whose previously gained noteriety for his gruellingly hard retro platformer VVVVVV.

Initially released as a Flash game on PC, then later ported to Nintendo 3DS, VVVVVV has finally found its way onto iOS. At midnight tonight, you'll be able to download this punishing sci-fi patience-tester for iPhone and iPad.

Cast as Captain Viridian, you must evacuate your space craft, which ihas been catapaulted into the VVVVVV dimension. For some reason, this means you can control gravity, letting you leap from floor to ceiling with a single tap of the screen.

I went hands-on with this new iOS port to see how it handles. Check out the results below.

VVVVVV will be available on iPhone and iPad at midnight tonight, and will cost £1.99 / $2.99.
