BioShock: iOS vs Xbox 360 Graphics Comparison

By , on August 6, 2014

As you probably already know by now, BioShock is coming to iOS later this year.

Mark Brown, editor of sister site Pocket Gamer, went hands-on with an iPad build of the game earlier in the week, and shared his experience in an exclusive AppSpy video (which can be found at the bottom of the article).

Having aquired some footage show ing the mobile incarnation of Rapture from publisher 2K, I decided to fire up the Xbox 360 version of BioShock and see how the iOS visuals stand up against the original console graphics.

Check out the results in the video above.

Though we don't have a solid release date for BioShock on iOS, we do know that it'll be live on the App Store before the year is out.

In all seriousness, those graphical differences wouldn't deter me from buying. But if, in addition to not looking as good, it didn't run well, then that might be a deal breaker. Fingers crossed it pays off. Would have preferred this on Vita.

What's a deal-breaker for me, currently, is the fact it only apparently runs on 4th Gen iPad and newer devices-- mostly because I have an iPad 2. Lol.

Man, that drove me nuts when I was using an iPhone 4 and suddenly all these games started coming out saying 4s or newer! I've shelled out for a 5s and mini retina, really hope that they'll be sufficient for a few years at least. Hardcore gamer, and there are some really excellent mobile games out there that I'd hate to miss.

Wow, I'd love to hear if they are planning on making improvements to the visuals before release, or if we should expect something similar to that. I'm okay either way, I guess, since I've never played them before. But that 360 version looks gorgeous. I'll guess I'll have to decide between the mobile iOS version and the Mac Store version... OR end up with both!

As the graphics stand right now, it looks easy enough to play on the PS2 or iPad 2/3. Seeing as though the game is set to be released for only the "newest of the new", this isn't exactly looking to take full advantage of all that new hardware and software. But, as was mentioned, there's still time for tweaks and improvements.

holly shit that's awesome for iOS gaming! I heard the series is a masterpiece, which got me to buy all 3 games in the form of Game of the Year Editions for only $9.99 for the entire set on 'Steam'! :D

I haven't started playing tho, saving the experience for a special week. :D :D
