I spent much of my weekend playing SimCity BuildIt, EA's new free-to-play building game, and though I was prepared for the worst, I was quietly hoping for this take on the classic series would be pretty good.

And I wasn't disappointed, as the soft-launch version of the game is a lovely bit of work.

It's a bit FarmVille, and a bit SimCity, and that makes for a very pleasant combination of freemium and old school. Plus the presentation's great too.
