VERDICT

A nice introduction to the endless runner genre (or in this case the endless flyer). Pleasant visuals but there are some balance issues.

Game association can be an interesting thing. Playing Hello Copter invokes images of the old PC game Lander (or Lunar Lander as it was sometimes known). Those who have played Lander and are watching this video review are probably wondering what we're on about. It all comes down to the controls.

This is your standard control scheme of touch to go higher and release to drop down. So many games use this that it's become rather commonplace. Where Hello Copter differs is adding a large amount of friction to initial acceleration. You need to plan ahead a little bit as it takes a second or two for the helicopter rotors to speed up, leaving you vulnerable if you need to change heights quickly.

Aside from that it's a standard endless style of game. Rescue the birds on the ground, dodge all incoming obstacles, all that kind of jazz. The obstacles are quite amusing to look at however, from business birds on their way to work, to flying raccoon doggy things, to a giant boss monster swiping the landscape with his mouth full of monkeys. That alone with the groove-tastic music as you're buzzing along should provide some entertainment.

And that's pretty much it. You've all played this style of game to death by now, so unless you love the genre, enjoy the style, or have some young ones around that would be amused, this one's probably worth a miss.
