Everything you need to know about GNOG for iPhone and iPad

Thursday is here. It's snowing outside. I mean, it might not be snowing where you are, but I can hardly be expected to come round to all of your houses and check outside to see if it's snowing can I? Come on, show some initiative and find out for yourself. While you're doing that I'm going to do the usual Thursday thing of writing about the one game that's come out this week that you definitely should play. We've already discussed GRID Autosport, so it's not going to be that. Because that would be too easy. Instead I'm going to talk about a game that lets you poke around in the brains of a bunch of robots. You can click the name of that game below to download it from the App Store. And if…

Mobile gaming moments of 2017 - Everwing on a beach in Scotland

The end of the year is fast coming up, which means soon it's going to be time to start creating content about the best games that have come out in the 12 months it's taken the earth to perform one complete rotation around the fiery, living giving sun. Obviously that's going to happen on AppSpy, but I also want to try and do something a little different. I don't want you to think about the best game you've played this year, or the game that you think is the most technically polished. I want you to think about the game that, for one reason or another, has meant the most to you. It could be because you sunk hours into it over the year. It could be because it got you through some hard times. H…

Here's why GRID Autosport for iOS is the racer that petrol heads have been waiting for

Well, this snuck up on us a little bit. Grid Motorsport is out right now on the App Store. It's a racing game, it's premium, and it's probably the game that hardcore racers have been waiting to land on iOS for a good long while. Why is that? Well, because it's got everything you'd want from a mobile racer, and it's all presented in a package that could well make your eyes bleed. But, like, in a good way. I'm sure there are sometimes ways that eye-bleeding is good. Anyway, I've written some words on the very subject. If you've got past these three paragraphs, I urge you to keep going. Things can only really get better. At least I hope they're going to, otherwise we're all in trouble. Oh, an…

Why PUBG for mobile is a really bad idea

Update: It's just been announced that PUBG actually is coming to mobile. You can read about that by clicking here. You'll need to know Chinese or translate the page to get the gist of things though. Anyway, the point still stands - but now you can read this article in a prescient new light. --- Well it's Thursday, and usually I like to write some content on Thursday. So that's exactly what I'm going to do. In fact, I'm doing it right now. Do you see? This is the content that I am creating for you. Consider yourselves blessed. Blessed by this wondrous content. If you have even the slightest interest in videogames then you've probably heard people mentioning PUBG. In layman's terms that's P…

Why Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp might be the perfect game to get you through this holiday season

Why Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp might be the perfect game to get you through this holiday season

It's getting towards the end of the year, and that can only mean one thing - we're about to be engulfed by a series of holidays. Oh, and it might snow in the northern hemisphere as well. Probably not though, what with global warming and all. Anyway, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp has just landed on the App Store. Sure, it might be a bit early, and someone has forgotten to turn the servers on, but that got me thinking. Is Animal Crossing the perfect mobile game to tide you through the dark winter nights and awful meetings with aunts and uncles you barely even remember? There's really only one thing for it. I'm going to have to create a piece of content to address that very question. You can c…

The 5 games you need to play on your Black Friday iPhone and iPad purchases

Well, it's that week again. Black Friday is almost upon us, and that can only mean one thing - deals, deals, deals. But this isn't DealSpy, that's a completely different website. This is AppSpy, so I thought we'd start off the week by looking at the games you should be grabbing on the swanky new iPhone you're going to try and get cheap over the next few days. We're specifically looking at games that are really going to shine on your new phone or tablet. The sort of thing you're going to whip out to show your mum to justify the price you just spent on, what is essentially, a few bits of glass, plastic, and metal. You can click on the emboldened names of the games to download them from the A…

Everything you need to know about Shadow Fight 3 for iPhone and iPad

Okay, it's Thursday, so that means that it's time for the Thursday find. Except I've gone and changed the name of it, because quite frankly The Thursday Find is one of the worst possible SEO titles that I've ever heard for anything. I'm so sorry I've let you all down like this. Anyway, the format of the content is going to be basically the same. I'm going to pick a game, write some stuff about it, and give you a link to download it. It's pretty smart, right? It's just the name that has changed, so don't you worry too much, regular reader. So yeah, click on the emboldened name of the game below to download it. And if you've got your own experiences to share, feel free to stick them in the c…

What Harry Potter: Wizards Unite can learn from The Order of the Phoenix game

The big news in mobile gaming last week revolved around everyone's favourite boy wizard. That's because Harry Potter: Wizards Unite was announced. It's an AR game built by Niantic. So that's the creators of Pokemon GO taking on one of the most beloved popular cultural phenomena of our time. Now, while other websites might be writing articles speculating about what the game might look like, and taking guesses at when the game is actually going to come out, I thought I'd do something a little different. After all this is App Spy, and we love to do things a little different around here. So I'm going to take a look at the Harry Potter game that Wizards Unite should copy. It is, in my humble op…

Everything you need to know about South Park: Phone Destroyer for iPhone and iPad

Well, Thursday has rolled around, and the big release this week is South Park: Phone Destroyer. It's not your typical free to play tie-in game though, it's actually a pretty impressive card scrapper with some nice ideas. Which made me think that I should probably do something telling you everything you need to know about the game. After all, that's definitely the sort of thing that someone might Google, getting me them sweet, sweet SEO hits and what not. You can click on the emboldened name of the game below to download it. And if you've got any questions you want answered, feel free to chuck them in the comments section at the bottom of the article and we'll do our best to answer it with…

Which is better, the Xbox One X, or the iPhone X? You might be shocked by the answer

You know what, I'm not even going to try and beat around the bush with this one, because let's be honest, that's not what you expect from me. It's time to have the show down to end all show downs, it's time to decide which is the best piece of new kit that came out recently that's got an X in its name. On the one side you've got the iPhone X, the tenth anniversary edition of Apple's world destroying mobile phone. On the other side you've got the Xbox One X, which as far as I can tell is a large, expensive doorstop. Sure, the new Microsoft console might have more X's in its name, but does that really matter? Well that's what we're going to find out, in a little piece of content I like to ca…

The Thursday Find, our weekly iPhone and iPad recommendation - The Muscle Hustle

Okay it's Thursday. Normally I'd kick things off with some epic preamble about literally nothing, but I don't want to do that today. Instead I'm just going to hit that content hard. And that content is the Thursday Find. Click the emboldened name of the game below and you'll be able to download it from the App Store. Disagree? Add a comment in the comments section. Sweet. We are good to go. The Muscle Hustle What would happen if you crossed wrestling with marbles? Well a lot of people would say you were crazy. They'd say you'd gone too far. Others would call you a maverick, a visionary, the sort of person who could lead us into a golden age of mash ups between pretend sports and childhood…

Is Dreamworks Universe of Legends suitable for younger mobile gamers?

Is Dreamworks Universe of Legends suitable for younger mobile gamers?

Have you ever wondered what a team-up between Po from Kung-fu Panda, a dragon from How to Train Your Dragon, and another character from a third Dreamworks property might look like? No? Me neither, but some people probably have, and they're who I'm writing this content for. That's because Dreamworks: Universe of Legends came out last week. It's a free to play casual RPG featuring heroes from a whole bunch of Dreamworks animation properties. And it's quite a lot of fun, if you're into that sort of thing. But there are a few nooks and crannies that people who are unfamiliar with the genre might have trouble with, especially if they're younger players. And since that's pretty much who the game…
