Get Puzzle Agent and Its Sequel For iPhone On the Cheap

Telltale Games’s well-regarded Puzzle Agent adventure series has been slashed in price on iPhone until 11th August, with the most recent of the two games also spruced up via an update. The first Puzzle Agent wasn’t half bad at all, earning itself a 4 out of 5 badge here on AppSpy In the sequel, players retake the reins of detective Nelson Tethers, pointing, clicking, and sleuthing their way around the village of Scoggins. Whilst the game has received the obligatory tweaks and refinements in this latest update, it has also been made compatible with the iPhone 3G, meaning those too tight / poor to own an current-gen Apple mobile can also get in on the puzzle-solving action. Puz…

Hector: Badge of Carnage Episode 2 Sleuthing Onto App Store This Autumn

Calling all detectives, this is an APB. Be on the lookout for the second episode in the Hector: Badge of Carnage detective series. It's lurking somewhere in the iPhone universe. Developers Straandlooper have reported that it is now locked down for an autumn release and is inbound on your position. So, you'll want to apprehend Episode 2 as soon as possible then. We hear it goes by the name Senseless Acts of Justice, and if you're playing this straight, it's going to be on your most-wanted list (I am so sorry about this) right up until release. What's that? Some of you sorry officers don't know what Hector: Badge of Carnage is? Alright, here's the skinny. Hector's a two-dimensional advent…

Horrid Henry Movie Tie-In Catapults Onto iPhone

Some of you may know Horrid Henry through his almost never-ending series of books, movies, and inspirational lectures. I know him through the worst DS game of all time: Horrid Henry's Horrid Adventure. I have played this game. It is Superman 64 bad. Now, the same developers have come out with an iPhone game. Yayyyy! Comprising three separate mini-games, Horrid Henry's Horrid App takes its cue from the recent live-action film. There's an Angry Birds-style catapulting section, where you soak Moody Margaret with a water balloon; a dressing up game; and a standard obstacle-dodging platformer. This latest addition to the Horrid Henry canon is out now for $2.99. It can't be any worse than the…

Monster Dash Anti-Hero Invades Fragger's Territory

Monster Dash Anti-Hero Invades Fragger's Territory

We love a good mash-up here on AppSpy, even one or two from that ridiculously uplifting Glee programme. Yep, guilty as charged. Of more interest to us, though, of course, are mash-ups in the mobile games biz, and so we were delighted to hear of a collaboration between the pair of venerable iPhone devs Halfbrick and Miniclip. The former is probably recognisable to most as the creator of Fruit Ninja, the insanely addictive slash-'em-up, whilst the latter is known for its suite of free flash games. Now, these two worlds collide, as the star of Halfbrick's brilliant Monster Dash Barry Steakfries invades Fragger in the latest update, bringing with him 30 additional levels of explosive fun. I…

Update and Price Drop For DoubleDragon On iPhone

Update and Price Drop For DoubleDragon On iPhone

Back in April, AppSpy published a translated snippet of an AppsJP interview with the makers of DoubleDragon on iPhone, Bow Mobile. In the article, Bow Mobile's spokesman suggested that an update to their old skool side-scrolling action game was in the works, even though the details couldn't be disclosed. Suffice to say, he wasn't lying, for version 1.00.01 of Bow Mobile's reimagined brawler has finally gone live. Oh, and it's been reduced in price. Anyone fancying a trip down Arcade Nostalgia Alley in the company of Billy and Jimmy Lee will benefit from revised in-game text and a transparent control panel. In addition, DoubleDragon is now compatible with iOS versions under 4.0, so even…

Madden NFL 12 Jinking Onto iPhone On 30th August

Red 69 Brown 3 Hut Hut Hut. No, not the demented cries of an oversexed Premier League footballer, but rather the snap count which precedes each play in American football. Of course, you'd be familiar with snaps, huddles, linebackers, and scrimmages, if you were a die-hard Super Bowl fan. Or just enjoyed an offensive play or two on Madden. I fall into the latter bracket, I'm afraid, so tend not to appreciate all of the intricacies of gridiron. Luckily for me, then, EA's five-star Madden NFL 11 for iPhone last year debuted GameFlow, an AI-controlled system for deciding the most appropriate next play. This venerable series is back on iOS - or at least it will be later in August - complete…

Gorgeous-Looking Siegecraft To Besiege Your iPhone This September

Crescent Moon Games have just formally announced their next title: Siegecraft. It's got a fantasy-medieval setting, some physics-based warfare, and ruddy amazing graphics. Here's the deal: you'll command and conquer hordes of real and fictional (orcs, anyone?) forces from one corner of the world to the next, flinging crossbows, catapults, and more at them. Still not sold? Well, we really do need to talk about that graphics engine again. It's impossible to write about Siegecraft without giving a nod to the lush 3D graphics. We're not kidding when we say that it's already shaping up to be one of the most beautiful games on iOS, if not on any mobile platform. Your iPhone really is in for…

Critically Acclaimed Android Platformer Cordy Jumps Onto iPhone

We're all friends here, so let's just be straight and admit it: we take energy for granted. Well, maybe not as much for granted when the electricity bills arrive… but anyway, we should be thankful we're not Cordy. Cordy has to run, jump, flip, push, and fight to power up the world. Now that's a hard day's living if you ask me. Another thing that Cordy does is take 'freemium' to the extreme. The first four levels are free, but the rest of the game - and there really is a lot more in it - is exclusive to those who snap up an in-app purchase (priced at $1.99). SilverTree Media say their new 2.5D platformer has "console quality", and with 27 levels powered by some gorgeous graphics -…

Tekken Finally Hits the iPhone, But Not the Tekken You Expect

The long-running beat-'em-up franchise Tekken has finally landed on iPhone, but if you've been waiting for a good old-fashioned bruiser, well, hold your horses, pal, because you're still waiting. As you've probably guessed by now, Tekken Bowl ain't your typical Tekken. There are no fisticuffs to be had here at all, because - and the clue is in the name - you'll actually be playing a tribute to an old bowling mini-game in Tekken Tag Tournament. You have 3 unique characters to choose from, as well as two bowling game modes to play through - including a physics-based Puzzle mode. Game Center support for achievements and leaderboards roll in to round off the package. So, while this isn't t…

Jet Car Stunts 2 On iPhone Will Include Freestyle Trick Mode

Our chums over at Pocket Gamer have snagged themselves a rather tasty news morsel about True Axis's Jet Car Stunts successor, the rather obviously named Jet Car Stunts 2. True Axis told PG that the upcoming sequel will feature six selectable vehicles, as well as a new level editor. They also spilled the beans on the new Freestyle mode, which is apparently "like playing a skateboarding game with a car." And just like a skateboarding game, the aim is to - yep, you guessed it - pull off impressive tricks to score your way to big points. So, basically, drive crazy, and you'll earn crazy points. Simples. In case you missed it, the excellent original picked up top marks back when we reviewed i…

The Island of Dr. Momo Is Ex-Capcom Producer Inafune's Latest Project

The Island of Dr. Momo Is Ex-Capcom Producer Inafune's Latest Project

Since badmouthing the entire Japanese game industry, Keiji Inafune has been on a rollercoaster ride of bad press and redundancy. After his ignominious exit from Capcom six months ago, however, one thing he hasn't been is idle. The creator of the Mega Man series has turned away from console and towards mobile gaming in the form of The Island of Dr. Momo. In this casual freemium title, players will take on the role of Dr Momo (Dr Peach in English), a medic aiming to create - via some genetic modification - the cutest creature imaginable. The Island of Dr. Momo will be splicing and cutting its way onto iOS this autumn in Japan, so fingers crossed for a western release, too. Here’s ho…

9-Year-Old Designer Helps PopCap Create Allied Star Police

If you weren't already aware, Electronic Arts acquired Seattle-based casual games phenom PopCap ten days ago for a cool $650 million. For that considerable outlay, the publishing giant behind NBA Jam and Dead Space picked up some of the most addictive iPhone IP around, including Plants vs Zombies, Peggle, and Bejeweled 2 + Blitz. In addition, EA will, naturally, inherit PopCap's recently formed spin-off label 4th & Battery, which is charged with producing edgier, stranger, more experimental games. Unpleasant Horse was the first creation from the 4th & Battery laboratory: unfortunately for the studio, it proved too hot for Apple to handle, and was promptly rejected. Next up from t…

Teaser Trailer Revealed For Square Enix's JRPG Chaos Rings II

We don't need to stress the inherent quality of Square Enix's JRPG franchise Chaos Rings again, do we? Ok, maybe we do then. Well, the original - Chaos Rings - was selected as the game of 2010 by AppSpy. 'Nuff said about that. Meanwhile, Its prequel - Chaos Rings Omega - finished 2nd in our rundown of the best games of May 2011. So far, so impressive. In the run-up to Chaos Rings Omega's launch, we reported on an advert placed in Japanese game magazine Famitsu by Squeenix, which suggested a direct sequel to Chaos Rings (I) was in the works. Lo and behold, the role-playing game specialists have only gone and unsheathed a few screenies and a trailer for Chaos Rings II, thus confirming wha…
