A new Motorsport Manager update is racing onto the App Store later this week

Last year's surprise racing management simulation hit, Motorsport Manager, is getting the update treatment later this week. What you'll be getting is a new racing series, the 'World Speed Series', which is aimed at those crazy few who didn't find the base game challenging enough. There are also new challenges with a variety of limitations that require you to change up your playstyle in order to complete them. Finally, the game will be localised for French, German, Spanish, and Italian languages. Meanwhile, here's AppSpy's very own Peter playing Motorsport Manager. If you like what you see, head on over to the App Store via the link below. [App Store link]…

Sid Meier's Starships is coming to iPad in early 2015, adds more depth to Civilization: Beyond Earth

If you're not up on your PC gaming news, then Civilization: Beyond Earth is a sort of mix of Civilization V and Alpha Centauri that's had a largely positive reception amongst hardcore strategy game enthusiasts. Sid Meier's Starships is coming to iPad (and PC and Mac) and is sounding a bit like a more tactical take on FTL and Out There, but set within the Beyond Earth universe: it's a turn-based tactical space combat game, in which you control a fleet of ships. More than that it'll actually have an impact on the main Beyond Earth game too, if you so desire. How? No idea. What we do know is that you'll explore the universe, protect your colonies, and spread peace throughout the cosmos, as a…

Craft your very own pirate stronghold with Raids of Glory

Craft your very own pirate stronghold with Raids of Glory

I seriously doubt that any living human has not, at some point in their life, wanted to become a pirate. What’s not to like about being a seaborne raider, pillaging and plundering anything unfortunate enough to stand in your way? Of course you do have to endure multiple hideous diseases, and live with the constant threat of being caught and hanged at any minute... Since those last two don’t sound fun, you may want to just play Raids of Glory instead, in which you can experience the pirate lifestyle without any awful caveats. You’ll erect imposing fortresses and guide bands of marauding warriors, all the while enjoying the game's Metal-enhanced visuals. If you’re a…

Spellcrafter: The Path of Magic is an original turn-based RPG by Jujubee Games and it's headed to mobile this year

As far as I'm concerned the App Store can't get enough RPGs, especially brand new ones. Well, that's exactly what we're getting with Spellcrafter: The Path of Magic. As is the trend these days, it seems, Spellcrafter will be told episodically, with the first episode expected to arrive by the end of the first quarter 2015. Each episode will feature a brand new protagonist, though whether that means the entire cast of characters changes is a mystery. The combat will be entirely turn-based in a similar vein to King's Bounty. Actually, it's all pretty similar to King's Bounty. Why not watch the trailer below to judge for yourselves. I, for one, can't wait f…

Sons of Anarchy is the next TV show to be given the adaptation treatment in Sons of Anarchy: The Prospect

Sons of Anarchy is the next TV show to be given the adaptation treatment in Sons of Anarchy: The Prospect

A "rough cut" trailer of the new Sons of Anarchy mobile game has surfaced on the interwebs and features a dangerous ride down the wrong side of the road, a hand-to-hand fight with a gun involved and, continuing the dangerous theme, the protagonist lighting up a cigarette. The most interesting thing we gleamed from this trailer is that Sons of Anarchy: The Prospect appears to be entirely in first person. The visuals and storytelling also look fairly reminiscent of the Telltale games, which isn't surprising given their success at transferring popular film and TV onto the small screen. There's very little information out there at present but we do know that the story is entirel…

The Super Bowl will muscle its way on to NFL Quarterback 15 and NFL Kicker 15 this Thursday 15th January

The Super Bowl will muscle its way on to NFL Quarterback 15 and NFL Kicker 15 this Thursday 15th January

Before you get too excited, no, they're not hosting the Super Bowl inside of a video game this year - though that would be awesome. Instead we're getting a Super Bowl-themed update to two of the greatest NFL games to hit iOS and Android, NFL Quarterback 15 and NFL Kicker 15. The update will hit the App Store and Google Play on Thursday 15th January - a Godsend for those impatiently waiting for February 1st and the Super Bowl proper. It adds the venue for this year's Super Bowl, University of Phoenix Stadium, to both games as well as updating both of their UIs to give them more of a Super Bowl theme. Both trailers for the updates are included below so check them out…

Race around the world on your very own customisable yak in Mutant Lab's latest game Yak Dash

Race around the world on your very own customisable yak in Mutant Lab's latest game Yak Dash

I learned something new today that brought me instant joy: yak racing is a thing. It's particularly popular in Tibet but it also happens in Mongolia and Northern Pakistan, apparently. You won't have to travel quite so far to try it for yourself, thankfully, as Mutant Labs latest mobile game is based on the sport. You and your yak will traverse the globe competing against fellow yak racers all while collecting apples to maintain the yak's energy levels and coins to purchase cosmetic items. It's all kind of reminiscent of Ski Safari. Yak racing seems kind of silly to me and Mutant Labs have totally embraced that sillyness in all aspects of the game. The visuals look like they're pulled strai…

Plarium has launched the mobile successor to Facebook MMO Stormfall Age of War

Plarium has launched the mobile successor to Facebook MMO Stormfall Age of War

Plarium has dragged its popular Facebook-MMO Stormfall: Age of War right on to mobile and given it a brand new title, Stormfall: Rise of Balur. The new game in the medieval RTS franchise hasn't simply been cobbled together and chucked onto mobile, though. There's a whole new and optimised user interface designed for playing in portrait, streamlined action menus, and, most importantly, new game mechanics and buildings. The visuals have also been given something of a boost, which is good to hear considering that the first title appeared back in 2012. That means a brighter displayer and much more activity happening on the screen than before. Stormfall: Rise of Balur …

Check out this video tutorial to help prepare yourself for intense combat in The Witcher Battle Arena

CD Projekt Red is currently preparing for the global launch of its first ever mobile title, The Witcher Battle Arena. It's a MOBA built from the ground up with mobile in mind, which means shorter battles, smaller teams, and the same rich and detailed visuals that the series is well-known for. There will be eight playable characters from The Witcher universe to choose from when the game launches and two different arenas to sling spells and swing axes in but you can safely expect more of both to follow shortly after launch. The Witcher Battle Arena has already soft launched in Sweden and Canada, which means we're getting very close to a global launch. If you're a fan of&n…

Blast apart stealthy space cowboys in Space Marshals, available now in the App Store

Blast apart stealthy space cowboys in Space Marshals, available now in the App Store

I thought I'd seen everything but cowboys in space - that's new. The thing is, it kind of makes sense. If we ever do achieve space travel, I imagine it would be very similar to the wild west, and you'd definitely need some space marshals to sort all that intergalactic crime out. Space Marshals is a tactical stealth title in a similar vein to the original Metal Gear Solid with Team Fortress 2-style cartoon visuals. It's also quite reminiscent of the old school Desperados stealth-action games, for those lucky few who played them. Check out the trailer below for a look at the game in action, and if you fancy doing some intergalactic marshalling yourself follow th…

Impatient Squirrel sees you help a squirrel find its acorn, and maybe save an actual real life species of squirrel

Impatient Squirrel sees you help a squirrel find its acorn, and maybe save an actual real life species of squirrel

If you've been desperately searching for a new puzzle game featuring a constantly moving cute small creature, Impatient Squirrel might scratch your itch. By sliding tiles on-screen, you direct a sprinting squirrel towards its ultimate goal of... any guesses...? That's right, an acorn. You'll have to think fast to avoid leading Mr. Squirrel to his untimely demise. If the going gets tough, you can use your wallet to ease your journey, but hopefully the developer doesn't go nuts with the pricing. See what I did there? Bad puns aside, this has the potential to be a cool release for puzzle fanatics, and the charity angle the game has - the developer is helping support the Red Squirrel Survival…

Dead Dragons is about dragons who are actually not dead, but they soon will be, maybe

Dead Dragons is about dragons who are actually not dead, but they soon will be, maybe

Imagine this: you're part of a big human empire that - over 100 years ago - managed to wipe out the dragons that once plagued your lands. Then you find out that they're not all gone after all, and that maybe humans and dragons have a lot more in common than you first thought. That's the situation that the protagonist of Dead Dragons - a chap named Will - finds himself in, and it's up to him (and by proxy, you) to uncover their dragon-y mysteries across dozens of hours of JRPG. It's from Kemco, has a lovely 2D anime visual style, an intriguing battle system, and is out now on iOS and Android. [App Store link] [Google Play link]…

Bowling Central combines the Wii Sports bowling experience with obstacles, and it's out soon on iOS

There are certainly a few bowling games on iOS but the trailer for Bowling Central poses the question: why aren't they more popular? Bowling Central mixes up the usual flicky bowling gameplay by allowing you to hook it up to your TV via AirPlay Mirroring and play it in almost exactly the same way as in Wii Sports. There are also obstacles to avoid, requiring you to time or curve the bowling bowl expertly in order to hit the pins at the end. Bowling Central will be available in the App Store on 15th January but in the meantime you can more than make do with the trailer below.…
