Doug Dug going free as part of the Pocket Gamer Advent Calendar

Yes, AppSpies, you read that title correctly. In the spirit of Xmas our very generous sister site Pocket Gamer is giving away a free iOS game every day for 10 days. They're not just any old games, however. These are hand-picked by the editorial staff, and have all won awards of some form this year. Today's freebie - the third game in the list -  is Doug Dug, which won the highly-coveted and incredibly rare PG Gold Award - huzzah! Make sure to come back each weekday via the link below to make sure you get all of the games in this rather decadent advent calender treat. Pocket Gamer Advent Calendar…

Drop Assault is soon set to land on an iOS and Android device near you

Games Workshop has collaborated with Complex Games Inc. to release a mobile game set in Warhammer 40,000's Horus Heresy story. The result is Drop Assault, coming soon to iOS and Android. Drop Assault is a free-to-play tactical strategy game that promises to be a little pacier than traditional games in the genre. Set in the post-apocalyptic land of Isstvan III, you'll be choosing to join forces with either the Loyalists or the traitorous Horus. All of which probably won't mean much to someone who hasn't heard of Horus Heresy before. Everyone will be able to understand the multiplayer Skirmish mode, however, which pits you against one of your friends (or an enemy or stranger) to s…

With the final episode of the final series of Sons of Anarchy nearly upon us, we've already begun saying our farewells to Kurt Sutter's lovable bunch of leather clad bikers. However, Tuesday's finale may not be the end after all - at least not if you own a mobile phone. Check out the video above for more details.  …

Tiny Realms gets yet another sizeably satisfying update

You know those pretty awesome Bastion troops TinyMob added to Tiny Realms not so long ago? Well, you can now give them one of three specific orders to ensure they're doing their awesome thing exactly as you want them to. This is as part of a new update just released that also includes realm building reminders (messages appearing above buildings with helpful reminders) and updated faction unit traits.  For a much, MUCH more in-depth look at the most recent update, why not watch this amusing video created by the devs themselves: Talkin' Tiny Episode VII: The Tiny Awakens. Now, if I can just remember which topical film franchise they got that title from...…

Awesome Inkle adventure 80 Days is landing on Android devices this month

We loved Inkle's 80 Days when we first got handsy with it back in July. Now, it's finally making the trip over to Android - on December 16th, to be precise. This is definitely a case of better late than never. It's a digital interactive storybook based on the Jules Vernes novel Around the World in Eighty Days. You play as Jean Passepartout as he attempts to - you guessed it - travel around the world in 80 days, with his travelling companion Phineas Fogg. Whilst you wait, why not watch James playing the  iOS version of the game for the first time back in July. Trust us - if you an Android gamer, December 16th can't come soon enough.…

Yes, you read that correctly, Androiders. The highly-acclaimed Dragon Quest III has been released on Google Play first ,with an App Store version sure to follow - though it's not exactly certain when. All of this can be yours for the princely price of £6.99 - just head on over to Google Play via the link below. Oh and, unfortunately, there's no trailer as of yet (though this will be updated with one as soon as there is) so here's our very own Pe…

The Witcher Adventure Game is out now on Android

Unless you've been living under a rock (or you don't care much for RPGs) chances are you've heard of The Witcher series. These excellent low-fantasy RPGs tell the tale of Geralt, the eponymous witcher (or 'mutant monster hunter' to the laymen), following the events of the novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski. Well, Geralt has now made the trip over to Android in the form of a digital board game based on the books, rather than the games. Triss Merigold, Yarpen Zigrin, and Dandelion the bard all feature as playable characters alongside Geralt, as you travel across a digital cardboard Rivia completing quests and slaying monsters. Check out the trailer below for a peek at how it plays in all i…

The Android JRPG love-in continues with Heavenstrike Rivals

The now and future king of JRPGs, Square Enix, has gone ahead and made my Christmas dreams come true by announcing a brand new mobile JRPG IP in Heavenstrike Rivals. Heading to both Android and iOS for free this winter, Heavenstrike Rivals is a tactical RPG built from the ground up with mobile in mind. There'll be tappy tactical battles, PvP, over 200 characters to fight with, and a dramatic plot revolving around a pack of monsters trying to destroy a peaceful aerial kingdom. Add in music and characters designed by Final Fantasy alumni Ryoma Ito and Ryo Yamazaki of Tactics Advance and XIV respectively and it looks like we'll have a serious JRPG on ou…

Peter Molyneux's controversial F2P god game Godus arrives on Android, both versions receive new social doodads

After a few months of waiting, Godus is now out on Android devices, bringing Peter Molyneux and 22cans' vision of what a modern god game should be to Google Play. If you somehow missed the original release on iOS (and PC), Godus is a divisive building and management game that asks you to sculpt the land, gain followers, and directly influence the direction of your little populace. Pretty much everyone agrees that it looks the part, but the free-to-play aspects have reportedly put some noses out of line. This Android version is the very latest build and includes all updates and improvements made to the title thus far, including all the challenges from the Frontier Age. Both this and the iOS…

Worms 3 gets Christmas update, Santa now delivering festive air strikes

Worms 3 gets Christmas update, Santa now delivering festive air strikes

Is there anything more embarrassing to a gamer than having your last Worm poked off a cliff edge by another Worm? Yes: having your last Worm poked off a cliff edge by a Worm wearing a ridiculous Christmas hat. Or perhaps blithely tripping over (and setting off) an explosive Christmas Pudding Mine. Getting Air Striked by Kris Kringle would turn your face pretty red too. All of which is now 100% more likely to happen, now that Team17 has given Worms 3 a Christmas update, which you can see in the gameplay video below. Get Worms 3 on iOS or Android via the links below. [App Store link][Google Play link]…

Yet another Kemco RPG - Revenant Saga - is released for Android

In a move that surprised absolutely no one, Kemco has announced yet another JRPG for Android. What did we tell you about the best JRPGs hiding on Android? Revenant Saga follows the story of Albert who agrees to participate in a trial experiment in order to save his parents from a deadly plague. Obviously there's a little bit more to it than that - this is a JRPG we're talking about - but we won't be the ones to spoil it all for you. Check out the trailer below to get a load of that awesome 3D battling and, if you like what you see, head on over to Google Play. [Google Play link]…
