Pop your headphones on and listen to this trailer for Audio Defence: Zombie Arena, the shooter follow-up to Papa Sangre II

Somethin' Else is back with their successor to fantastic audio adventure / Sean Bean-em-up Papa Sangre II - it's called Audio Defence: Zombie Arena. Like Papa Sangre II, Audio Defence: Zombie Arena has a minimal amount of graphics, instead relying on the power of creepy binaural audio working in tandem with your imagination to create the world. The aim is to shoot zombies that are encroaching upon your position by shooting them, all the while not being able to physically see where they are. Here's the trailer to explain more, ensure you're wearing headphones or else it won't make a whole lot of sense. The game's available right now, just in time for Halloween. [App Store link]…

Meat Factory is like a Game & Watch gone very very very wrong

Fred isn't happy: he works in a meat packing plant, and frankly that's got to be a bit of a drag for anyone. After growing sick of the slaughter, he concocts a plan to rescue all sorts of cutesy animals from their squishy dooms - from the humble rodent, to the majestic Narwhal - but unfortunately he's got a sentient factory against him. Cue a highscore chaser for your iPhone or iPad that has you avoiding grinders and spinning blades in a manner not entirely dissimilar to the Game & Watch from back in the day. That's Meat Factory, and it looks neat. It's out now on iOS, and it costs 99c / 69p. Go get it via the link below. [App Store link]…

If you're a fan of the Secret Files series, you should probably remember Sam Peters from her role in Secret Files 2: Purtas Cordis. She stars in her own adventure in Secret Files: Sam Peters, which is the third chapter of the Secret Files trilogy, and out now on iOS after having been on PC since late in 2013. This entry of Secret Files whisks you off to Africa, and quickly sees you embroiled in a plot filled with ancient mysticism, in which you'll need to speak to people, combine objects, and work out puzzles to proceed. Secret Files: Sam Peters is out now for iPhone and iPad, and costs $2.99 / £1.99. [App Store link]…

Cooking Fever gets new Breakfast Cafe update, includes English breakfast, W. Somerset Maugham probably would have been pleased

The author W. Somerset Maugham once said "To eat well in England you should have breakfast three times a day". If you believe this statement to be true, then you'll be very pleased to know that Cooking Fever has received a big update that adds a Breakfast Cafe which gives you the option to cook up the world-renowned (and totally delicious) English Breakfast. Nordcurrent has popped over the new trailer showing off some of the culinary delights you'll be able to prepare in the new content for this time management game, and the team there has assured AppSpy that even more locations are on their way. Perhaps the perennially popular British eatery “Filthy Roadside Kebab Van” will b…

Asdivine Hearts is Kemco's new JRPG, and it's all about a possessed cat

In Asdivine Hearts, Zack and Stella are planning to head off to the capital, but before they can get there a higher being takes over their pet cat. So then Zack and Stella have to head off on an adventure in which they ultimately need to save the world. To do this they'll explore 2D SNES-ish worlds, enter lots of battles, and I imagine crystals will be involved at some point too. Which, to be fair, is exactly what you want from a JRPG. Asdivine Hearts is out now, here's the launch trailer. Want it on iOS or Android? Grab it on the links below. [App Store links][Google Play links]…

The World Of Warriors developer diary explains the upcoming action strategy game's inspirations

World of Warriors is coming out of Mind Candy - them what made Moshi Monsters - but specifically from its Brighton team: Candy Labs. It's a free-to-play action and combat focused strategy game, one Candy Labs is claiming will appeal to all ages, and all skill levels, including the more hardcore console gaming crowd. Candy Labs has just released a developer diary that reveals more about the game's origins, how the project got started, and some of the more subtle minutiae too.…

Bike Rivals receives a Halloween update, new levels will see you howling like a werewolf

I wouldn't say that many of the stages in Bike Rivals ever left me thinking "well that was easy", but clearly some people must have found some of its levels a bit of a breeze. Why? Because Miniclip has just popped over the trailer for the Bike Rivals Halloween update, and they've assured me that it contains some of the very hardest courses they've yet devised. The update, which includes a new bike available for purchase, as well as a bloody great spider to contend with, also sees the addition of Infernando - a new rider you can unlock by getting perfect runs on the spooky fresh stages. The update is available now, links to download the game on iOS or Android are below. [App Store link]…

DeNA Games has popped over the latest developer diary video for its new tower defence game - Star Wars: Galactic Defense. If you missed it, you can catch up on part 1 here, but this new video focuses on covering some of the gameplay elements. Tower types, special abilities, customisation, and hints at some of the 90 different units you'll face are all shown, plus there's a bit where the nice man tells us that "characters are one of the most important elements in the game". Disc is 'a simple game for smart people', and it's out right now on iOS

You read that right smarty-pants who like straightforward video games: according to its creator, Disc is the game for you. This iPhone and iPad game from Tapush asks you to connect two discs of the same shade to create one much darker disc. Eventually you'll make grey discs, which score you points when you put them next to one another. Here's the trailer, clever clogs. Disc is out now and costs $0.99 / £0.69, with no IAPs. Below is the link to grab it from the Apple App Store. [App Store link]…

DomiNations is a highly detailed looking strategy game coming to iOS and Android next year

DomiNations is a highly detailed looking strategy game coming to iOS and Android next year

There's a new trailer doing the rounds for the first title to come out of Big Huge Games and Nexon's recent partnership - DomiNations. I'm in two minds about it. On the one hand there's a danger that it could turn out to be just another strategy management game in the mould of Clash of Clans or Tiny Realms or Plunder Pirates. In which case that's fine, but there's not an awful lot to get excited about. While on the other hand, the sheer scope and size of DomiNations' planned gameplay is really quite impressive, suggesting an unprecedented level of detail, and countless upgrade paths. The game plonks you in control of a nation in the Stone Age, and it's your job to take them into the…

Target Acquired takes a Buster Shot at Kickstarter, game is being worked on by Square Enix and Capcom talent

Target Acquired is a combination of an auto-runner like Canabalt, and a shooter like Mega Man, which sounds like a pretty good combination to me. Through the development process the developer TouchTen has had the creative input of Ryo Teruya (one-time CEO at Square Enix), but perhaps more important for that Mega Man feel is that it's also got a soundtrack composed by Manami Matsumae (a veteran Mega Man composer, as well as having worked on Contra and Derby Stallion). TouchTen is launching its Kickstarter campaign today to help get it funded. Here's the video. Feel like backing the project? Pop over to the Kickstarter page.…

The launch trailer for Space Forest Dilemma features Tetris and Arkanoid style gameplay plus psychedelic animals

The Android version of Space Forest Dilemma is already out - our pals at Android Rundown reviewed it here. However, the game's coming to iOS on November 6th, so the team at PapaQuark has prepared a brand new launch trailer. Space Forest Dilemma is a free-to-play spatial puzzler with a plain look and a simple premise, but there are some very sharp controls and devious puzzles in here too. Can't wait until November 6th for the iOS version? Grab the Android outing on the link below. [Google Play link]…

Hip to be square? Spectrum is out right now, and this is what it looks like

Your task in Spectrum is to swipe on the screen to move a cube, which means you'll hopefully avoid lines of cubes from smashing into you. The idea is basic, but the presentation is just smashing, with an epic and almost 80s sounding soundtrack, plus razor sharp visuals. Spectrum is out right now, here's the trailer. Fancy a go? Spectrum is free and available on the links below. [App Store link][Google Play link]  …
