Add 'bracelet that can play Tetris' to your list of novel gaming wearables

Yep, you read that right, a very clever person with an eye for fashion tech has created a bracelet that runs a full-on version of Tetris. It's not exactly the most handsome looking bit of jewellery, and the potential for other games on bracelets is perhaps a little limited, but nevertheless this is a very cool achievement in engineering.…

Darkness Reborn intro film shows new gameplay footage of the MORPG, Android Closed Beta registration now open

As you'll see in the trailer below, you'll be tackling not one mighty boss in Darkness Reborn, but two: a double-headed dragon called Belphegor, and a fallen knight named Damien. Darkness Reborn appears to be taken a story-driven approach for its MORPG action, featuring flashy combat, dynamic camera angles, and special effects aplenty. What's potentially even more interesting, though, is that the game features multiplayer co-op dungeoneering, six player boss raids, and three on three PvP - all of which is completely synchronous. If you have an Android device, live in the United States or Canada, and feel like playing the game before anyone else, you can sign up for the Closed Beta here. T…

Skylanders Trap Team prank video is directed by Jackass creator, voiced by Adam Carolla, actually quite funny

Here's the deal: Skylanders Trap Team is out soon, and it's awesome. You can watch our review here and gawp at its high definition full console experience loveliness. The game is primarily aimed at kids, and kids are easily tricked by grown-ups - grown-ups like Jeff Tremaine (the co-creator of Jackass) and comedian Adam Carolla. So the pair of them embedded themselves in a toy shop to prank a bunch of kids. What unfolds is a bit brilliant.…

Check out this footage of Chop Block's endless minimalist platforming

Vital Zigns' latest - Chop Block - is a hardcore platformer, and if you're a regular AppSpy viewer then you'll know I'm a sucker for a hardcore platformer. I'm immediately reminded of Super Meat Boy when watching the newly-released trailer for Chop Block: the minimalist art style, the need for precision, the spinning blades, and so on. Instead of Meat Boy, you'll be playing as Woodman, and it's your job to guide him away from dangers for as long as possible, until you're inevitably chipped. Chop Block is a free-to-play game and will be available on iOS and Android from October 9th.…

Splot is a hardcore platformer coming to iOS at the end of October, and it's got a brand new trailer

We first saw Splot at Pocket Gamer Connects, and were really impressed by its surprisingly tough platforming, spot-on controls, and adorable visuals. A few months after we got our hands-on, Splot now has a release date, a price tag, and a new trailer. The game is coming to iOS (plus Windows and "possibly other platforms" according to the press release), and will be available October 23rd, with $3.99 / £2.49 being the entry price.…

Rogue Wizards is a light-hearted dungeon crawler, and it needs your support on Kickstarter

Rogue Wizards is a light-hearted dungeon crawler, and it needs your support on Kickstarter

Rogue Wizards superficially appears to be a standard dungeon crawler: you enter a dungeon, you fight stuff, you get epic loot, you rinse, you repeat. But look deeper and you'll see that its world is procedurally generated, and no two weapons are the same either. That's quite an ambitious concept, but a very cool one in my book. A bunch of industry bigwigs seem to agree with me, including Dave Brevik (the creator of Diablo) who's calling it "one of the most promising RPGs in years". The game is targeting iOS and Android (and PC and Mac). Want to support it? Head over to Rogue Wizards' Kickstarter.  …

War Thunder live action trailer commemorates soldiers on the Russian Front during World War II

Video games are a wonderful kind of fantasy: each title a virtual universe governed by its own rules, an alternative reality that can be anything, shaped into whatever we like. The real world is far crueller. It has wars where one side incorrectly believes it has the right to wipe entire races off the face of the Earth. Where people give their lives, willingly or unwillingly, in the pursuit of the ideologies of those in charge. War Thunder's new live action video effort is a surprisingly thoughtful nod to the latter, while promoting one of their products from the former. I can't quite work out if it's in good taste, so I'll let you decide for yourself...…

I'm not fibbing: this is the first gameplay video of Majestic Nights

We've had our all-seeing eye on Majestic Nights since it was originally announced back in July, but it's only now that we're starting to see what this curious number's all about. This gameplay walkthrough shows off the traditional point and click elements, branching story options, cover-based shooting, and more, as we follow John Cardholder through this dark episodic adventure about conspiracy theories, set against the backdrop of yuppies, neon, and pop culture of a stylised 1980s.…

Skullduggery! will ask you to use your head from October 9th

ClutchPlay Games' new platformer has you rolling a skull around multiple lands across various times, taking on the afterlife with a combination of action puzzle solving and headshots, grabbing treasures, and trying to return home alive. Well... still dead, but less dead than you might be. That bit's a tad confusing. Best just watch the trailer for Skullduggery!, and see if you fancy checking it out when it comes to the iOS App Store on October 9th.…

Hellraid: The Escape is out now on Android, expectedly looks amazing

The Unreal Engine-powered survival horror puzzler Hellraid: The Escape is a very good looking game. I mean, it's totally gross in spots, and has an incredibly dark, dank, oppressive atmosphere, but its fidelity and the technical realisation of its horrific environment is spot on. And it's now out on Android. Huzzah!…

Hulk Hogan Leg Drops into Crazy Taxi City Rush, brother, becomes an unlockable character, dude

Sometimes mere words fail you. Today is one of those days, so let me stick to the facts; Hulk Hogan has been added to Crazy Taxi City Rush, and you can hire him as an unlockable driver, and there's now a trailer showing this, and I think I need to go have a lie down.…
