KNeoWORLD Arcade will test your MeNTal dexTERiTy, here's the tRAiler

KNeoWORLD Arcade's title may seem to have its capitalisation all over the place, but let's not hold that against it, because it also looks like a solid edutainment title in the form of Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training or Lumosity. The mobile game features 30 minigames created by educators and scientists that are designed to improve your skills in mathematics, spatial awareness, logic, reasoning, and so on. It's suitable for all ages, and also includes those all-important leaderboards and achievements to brag to your mates about how much smarter than them you're becoming. $4.99 / £2.99 is the asking price, and there are no ads or IAPs once you've paid your entry fee. Air Supply SOS looks just about as batty as an actual ZX Spectrum game, trailer sports 'rubber pleasures'

Described as an "homage to Jetpac from the old ZX Spectrum days", Air Supply SOS features arcade-oriented action, plenty to see and collect, and the visuals and music are vintage Speccy. Low-res shapes, bizarre mash-ups, basic colours, and pop culture references: this is the real deal, and the music sounds wonderfully authentic, due to being made on an actual ZX Spectrum. The game's out tomorrow (25th September) on iOS. Here's the trailer. I'm hyped.…

Zodiac is a 2D JRPG with a story by the writer of Final Fantasy XV and a soundtrack from the composer of Final Fantasy Tactics

Here's why I'm excited for Zodiac; The game itself is being developed by Kobojo, a European outfit that seemingly have a bit of a passion for JRPGs. Talent includes peeps that have worked on Pokemon and a whole bunch of MMOs. The scenario is from the mind of Kazushige Nojima, whose previous work includes Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X, X-2, Final Fantasy XV, and Kingdom Hearts. Music is provided by Hitoshi Sakimoto, of Final Fantasy XII and Tactics fame, with credits on Tactics Ogre, Vagrant Story, Gradius V, and more. The game promises an epic story, turn-based battles, platforming, puzzle solving, and an online persistent world to explore with friends. I'm pumped for this, and I think yo…

Modern Combat, Infinity Blade, King of Fighters, and more going cheap in first wave of App Store bundles

Everyone loves a bargain, and things don't get much more bargainous than premium mobile games getting bundled up into one big package of awesomeness. Happily the App Store now gives developers and publishers the option to bundle their games together for a price that's much lower than buying all the titles individually. The launch wave of bundles is epic. Modern Combat 3, 4, and 5 for just £6.99, £1.49 will bag you Angry Birds, plus Seasons, Space, and Star Wars, and SNK is doing a mega deal that includes Metal Slug 1, 2, 3, and X, together with The King of Fighters-i, '97, and '98, plus Samurai Shodown II for a measly £9.99. Did we mention there's also Infinity Blade,…

EXCLUSIVE: iBomber 3 teaser trailer points to Metal support on iOS 8

iBomber was never a slouch in the visuals department, even back when it dropped its first payload 5 years ago, but iBomber 3 could well be a massive step forward for the series. We've just received the very first (and crushingly short) teaser trailer for the newly announced title... The eagle-eyed will spot that the logo now contains a metal texture, and the song playing in the background is classic metal track 'Ace of Spades' by Motörhead. I've confirmed with the developer - Cobra Mobile - that this teaser is indeed a nod to Apple's new Metal on iOS 8, functionality that should make games look even more impressive on iPhone and iPad. Could iBomber 3 have drastically improved visu…

Awesome! There's a new illo - Birth of the Cool trailer

illo - Birth of the Cool is shaping up to be... well... pretty cool. It's a non-violent adventure game with action and puzzle elements from Raylight Games, where you'll be controlling the eponymous hero using touch, tilt, and microphone inputs, to navigate them through beguilingly stark worlds in a strange and unique narrative that's told completely without words. As you'll see in the trailer, there's a rewind mechanic in there just in case you make a mistake, the puzzles look left-field and off-kilter, and the visuals are stripped right back to the (still gorgeous) fundamentals. We're keen to see how illo - Birth of the Cool turns out when it comes to iOS and Android (and PSN, XBLA, Wi…

Road Rash plus Full Throttle: that's Wild, and this is its first trailer

Wild and Free Games has announced it's working on a new motorbike racer with plenty of fisticuffs, and it's called Wild. It's chunky and bold and violent and arcade-y and seriously just watch the trailer below because it already looks absolutely bad-ass. The game's confirmed to be free-to-play and will come to PC / Mac / Linux for sure. It's also destined for iOS and Android (and XBLA, PSN, Wii U) so long as the developers meet certain goals on their crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, which you can see right here. Wild looks pretty darn cool, and I'm loving the blend of Full Throttle and Road Rash, so I've got my fingers crossed for the mobile version getting the green light soon.…

DEVICE 6 and Year Walk dev may need to delay new game The Sailor's Dream due to iPhone 6 announcement

Simogo's work is exemplary, and we've been steadily becoming more desperate to play The Sailor's Dream ever since it was announced. But there's a chance we may have to wait a little longer than we anticipated. Simogo's artist / writer Simon Flesser has taken to Twitter to express dismay at the new resolutions of the upcoming iPhone 6 models. This morning, he said "2 new resolutions that are nowhere near the old ones, and expectations of your games looking good on all devices, is killing my enthusiasm." He followed up by writing "I am incredibly frustrated with the platform right now". However, most concerning for fans of Simogo's games, were later tweets; We don't want to release in…

Final Fantasy VII is coming to iOS and Android in October, sort of

Here at AppSpy, we're big fans of Square Enix's mobile JRPGs, and we've been waiting patiently for the Japanese giant to announce the legendary Final Fantasy VII for mobiles for quite some time. That wait is finally over. Well, kind of. Square Enix has announced Dive In for mobiles in Japan, a cloud service that allows you to play games streamed over the Internet. First games on the block for distribution? The tepidly received Final Fantasy XIII and stone-cold PlayStation classic Final Fantasy VII. Much like the ill-fated OnLive, Dive In doesn't download the game to your device for play at any time. Instead you constantly stream a video feed of the game running on a supercomputer, whic…

Snuggle up with this trailer for The Sleeping Prince

The setup for The Sleeping Prince is classic fairytale stuff: Sydney Slime is up to no good in the Kingdom of Cloudreach, and it's up to Prince Perilous to save the day. The problem is, Prince Perilous just will not wake up. Therefore it's your job to save the day by flinging his limp body through Slime's castle, whilst besting foes and solving puzzles in this physics-based platformer. The Sleeping Prince is out of Signal Studio, them folks what made the well-received Toy Soldiers on XBLA, so we're quietly confident this one will be worth keeping an eye on. Stick with AppSpy for more on The Sleeping Prince, which will be available Thursday the 11th of September on iOS.…

This Kitty Powers' Matchmaker trailer is the most fabulous thing you'll see today

We don't get many dating sims through the doors of AppSpy all too often, and they're almost never fronted by "video games' most outrageous drag queen". So of course we're going to show you the incredibly saucy new trailer for Kitty Powers' Matchmaker. Ostensibly a dating game with a drag queen diva twist, it's up to you to run a successful dating agency: set up dates with clients, help them through any Dating Dilemmas that may occur, and keep your business profitable. The humour is camp and good-natured, and multiple hours of play are promised by developer Magic Notion. And in case you're concerned this game's going to be a bit shallow in the gameplay department, the team has previousl…

This Angry Birds Transformers trailer is so amazingly 80s that it should be wearing jelly shoes

There was always going to be a concern amongst Transformers fans that Angry Birds Transformers isn't going to feel authentic, that it would be a quick cash-grab, predicated on nostalgia for a beloved cartoon from the eighties. If you weren't convinced that wouldn't be the case by this trailer, then I'm pretty sure this one will put any remaining fears to bed. If you're too young to remember cartoons created solely for the purpose of marketing toys, or the "unique" properties of VHS, or the pomp of eighties hair metal, then the above may be a little lost on you. But to those of us staring down the barrel of a rapidly approaching 30s, the trailer for Angry Birds Transformers is pretty muc…

Plants vs. Zombies 2 update brings back classic PvZ game mode, new power-ups, and more

If you're a long-time fan of the Plants vs. Zombies games, you may remember the Vasebreaker mini-game from the original release. The latest update to Plants vs. Zombies 2 brings back this mode, and builds upon the gameplay formula that made it - according to PopCap - the most popular mini-game from the first PvZ. X-Ray Vase allows you to see exactly what type of zombie is hidden inside each pot, and the Vase Move enables you to move these precarious bits of pottery about the map. A new power-up, called The Butterizer, lobs butter to stun zombies, and if that weren't enough to keep you busy, there's a new Endless Mode too. Plants vs. Zombies 2's Vasebreaker update is out now, and if you…

EXCLUSIVE: World of Tanks Blitz on Android 'a few weeks away', cross-platform multiplayer details confirmed, new update now available

We get a lot of questions from our viewers here at AppSpy about World of Tanks Blitz, so I dropped Wargaming.net a message to see if they could answer some of the ones we hear most often. Though the developer is still cagey over how it will be expanding the multiplayer aspects of the game - clan support, for example, would be very welcome, but details were not forthcoming - it did confirm to me that cross-platform multiplayer with the Android version of the game is coming. Android gamers can expect to see World of Tanks Blitz on their device shortly: according to the representative from Wargaming.net I spoke with, "the Android version is a few weeks away". Personally I think this is great…

Dragon Quest I is coming to western mobiles this September, rest of the series to follow shortly

Let's not bury the lead here: Dragon Quest I is headed to English-speaking territories, and the other Dragon Quest games will join it soon after. In an interview with Siliconera, the producer of the Dragon Quest mobile series Noriyoshi Fujimoto stated that; "We are going to be releasing (in order) from Dragon Quest I, starting sometime in September, and then we'll be releasing subsequent games like Dragon Quest II and Dragon Quest III every month, maybe every two months" "In terms of pricing, it’s still yet to be determined - but because these are classic games, the cost will probably be lower than Dragon Quest VIII and Dragon Quest IV" Fujimoto also went on to explain that these…
