Cute puzzler Twisty Planets will turn your world upside down at midnight tonight

Crescent Moon Games's new puzzler Twisty Planet will be landing on the App Store tonight at midnight. This cute 3D puzzler has you guiding the tiny Qub around 60 blocky worlds across three galaxies. To lead the little chap to each level's goal you must turn and twist the planet beneath him. The revolving mechanic lets you shift the world from under Qub’s feet to make him fall, springboard, and teleport his way to new areas. You have to be careful as you rotate the landscape, however. One wrong turn a Qub could slide off a surface, miss his platform and shoot off into space. Each planet has three stars for Qub to collect along the way. These are often located on hard-to-reach outc…

Final Fantasy VII G-Bike burning onto iPhone and iPad this year

Remember that bike racing mini-game from Final Fantasy VII? The one set at the Gold Saucer amusement park where spikey-haired saviour Cloud Strife rockets down a highway slashing at beasties with a comically oversized sword? Well, Square Enix has decided to repackage the concept as a stand-alone iOS game called Final Fantasy VII G-Bike, and it's coming to iPhone and iPad later this year. As you can see from the trailer, FFVII G-Bike looks very similar to mini-game upon which it is based. As it's basically an endless runner, we imagine you'll be swiping or tilting to steer your bike, while tapping to attack the stream of enemies being thrown at you. Speaking to IGN, Square produce Ichiro…

Rovio's avian RPG Angry Birds Epic will fly onto iPhone and iPad this Thursday

Feather-filled RPG spin-off Angry Birds Epic was soft-launched in Canada and New Zealand back in March. Now, three months later, it is set to arrive on App Stores worldwide this Thursday. Angry Birds Epic takes Rovio’s iconic cast of irate avians and thrusts them into a tactical turn-based game reminiscent of a JRPG. Think Final Fowl-tasy, and you are on the right track. The birds have all been redesigned to suit the game’s medieval world, and act as a shorthand for their combat abilities. The red bird is covered in armour to show its new role as a powerful knight, while the yellow bird dons a pointy hat to demonstrate its magical abilities. Individual battles are…

E3 2014: Ubisoft unveils Just Dance Now mobile app

Ubisoft has announced Just Dance Now, a mobile app which lets you bust a move while you're on the move. Revealed at Ubisoft's E3 keynote alongside the upcoming console game Just Dance 2015, this app turns your phone into a jukebox remote control, allowing you to transform any room with a TV into an impromtu dance hall. Once you've downloaded the app and synced with the Just Dance site, you simply beam the choreography to a second screen, and then let your iPhone's accelerometer keep track of your movements. According to Just Dance brand manager Jason Altman, you'll be able to use Just Dance Now to engage in dance-offs with other mobile players. In fact, though he has yet to test it with a…

Great Little War Game 2 is the second installment of Rubicon Mobiles military strategy series, and it has just occupied the App Store. As you battle through the game’s 60 missions you unlock new units and upgrades to ensure your army is always up to the challenge at hand. While it sounds quite serious, the cartoony 3D graphics and charming audio keep proceedings lighthearted as you pit your blue army against the evil reds. Naturally, this sequel promises a host of enhancements. These include the standard improved vis…

Puzzle platformer Leo's Fortune on sale after WWDC Design Award win

The folks behind handsome puzzle platformer Leo's Fortune are celebrating their recent sucess at the WWDC Design Awards by putting the game on sale. Taking control of the mustachioed engineering tycoon Leopold - who happens to be a small ball of fluff - you must guide him through a series of hazardous levels which span five different lands. As well as sliding and jumping through tunnels and over chasms, Leo must inflate his fuzzy form to help him float across gaps, and push platforms into useful positions. Though the platforming antics feel familiar (and actually reminded us of Sonic The Hedgehog at times), it's the incredible presentation and cleverly conceived challenges which caught…

Get a free copy of Deus Ex: The Fall over on IGN

Here is a nice way to kick off your E3 week: it seems IGN is giving away copies of Square Enix’s open-world cyber-stealth game Deus Ex: The Fall to anyone who wants one. Grabbing the code is relatively quick and painless. The first step is to head over to the offer page on IGN. Once there, you'll want to hit the ‘Get My Code’ button, which will instantly generate a code.  Finally, enter the code in the Redeem box on the front page of the App Store, and your gamewill start to download. There are a few snags to this fantastic offer, the first of which is that the code is only redeemable in selected countries, including the US and UK. Also, the code is only valid unt…

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for iOS is coming to the US App Store

Capcom’s Monster Hunter series has always been popular in Japan, but has struggled to make the transition to western markets. Now, having been out in its home territory for some time, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for iOS is making its way to to other markets. Monster Hunter is an apt title for a series that has you hunt, trap, and kill monsters for the valuable materials they offer. These can then be crafted to form more powerful equipment in order to hunt larger creatures. The satisfying feedback loop this provides is further enhanced by the multiplayer aspect, in which hunting larger game requires you to work as a team - all fulfilling different roles in the hunt. The series' pop…

Hitman Go creators to release Hitman: Sniper for iPhone and iPad later this year

Square Enix Montreal has just popped the scope cap off its brand new Hitman project: a free-to-play shooter for iOS called Hitman: Sniper. Developed by the team behind the excellent board game-style mobile tie-in Hitman Go, this game is said to focus on "the subtlety of execution." We hope this means that you'll get to spend your time selecting locations and choosing the perfect moment to take out your target, as opposed to charging in all guns blazing. According to the announcement, the game will share a genetic link with Io-Interactive's Hitman: Sniper Challenge, the companion app that was released alongside Hitman Absolution. One of the thing we liked Hitman Go was the fact it had be…

First episode of stealth hacker Republique is now available free on iPhone and iPad

The first episode of Camouflaj’s episodic stealth game Republique is currently available for free on the App Store. Set in a dystopian future, Republique has you helping a girl named Hope as she flees for her life through an oppressive city state. Acting remotely, you view the action through security cameras, hacking various electronics in the world to clear a path, and letting Hope know when its safe to run. Hacking games seems quite de rigueur at the moment, exemplified by apps like Watch_Dogs Companion: ctOS Mobile. Featuring tons of computer tinkering fun, this tie in to Watch_Dogs gives you control of the city's security system, letting you chase down console an…

Free-to-play shmup Sky Force 2014 has just flown onto the App Store

Sky Force was an impressive-looking mobile shump back in the Java days of 2004. Now, ten years later, Infinite Dreams has bought it back as free-to-play shooter Sky Force 2014. A lot has changed in a decade, most notably in the visual department. While the original looked good for its time, this new instalment is stunning. The 3D graphics models bring notable depth to the smooth top-down combat. This is made all the more impressive thanks to the beautiful explosion and lighting effects that fill every screen. The one-to-one touch controls have you dragging your little ship around the screen constantly shooting its cannons. However, in an interesting twist to this tried and tested system…

Jousting simulator Rival Knights charging onto iPhone and iPad tonight

Hear ye, hear ye! Gameloft has just revealed its upcoming jousting game, Rival Knights. What's more, it's galloping onto the App Store this very night. Starting you off as a lowly competitor in the medieval sport of jousting, Rival Knights challenges you to rise through the ranks to become one of the finest lancemen in the land. Think of it as the career mode in FIFA, only with more armour and fewer injuries. Rival Knights will feature a huge variety of upgrades for your armour and jouster. The developer has also gone to thr trouble of using motion capture for the game's animations - though we suspect this will just be for the knights and not their noble steeds. If the daft trailers a…
