Halloween iOS Bonanza

Halloween iOS Bonanza

It's the time of year where countries around the world get used to the aroma of pumpkin and spices in the air - not that I'm complaining personally because I love me some seasonal treaties, but it's nice to think we can enjoy more than just food and candy this year. As such I've collected news on a bunch of great seaonal themed updates and special deals that you can jump in on to provide you with a great distraction for the next couple weeks, or if you want to horde them, to survive the Thanksgiving season. Mikey Shorts Halloween - A Free Seasonal Taster Instead of simply changing the aesthetics of their smash hit game Mikey Shorts, Beaver Tap Games have opted to go one better, creating a…

Squids Wild West - Free For A Short Time!

We've got another great deal for you today and it could be ending any moment! Squids Wild West is the continuing saga of a group of sea-creatures out to save the world from the black goop turning everyone in to minless minions. Featuring flick-based action and a turn-based RPG system, you'll be kept busy for hours as you conquer not only the extensive main campaign, but also the many bonus missions to test your skill. The Game Bakers are offering iOS gamers a chance to pick up their amazing title for free for a limited time and I'd definitely recommend taking them up on that offer - especially as it received a 5/5 from us when it came out and has even more to offer now. [Squids Wild Wes…

FAA's Free App of the Day – Monster Shooter: The Lost Levels

Today the FAA brings you a game I can personally recommend as it managed to suck a fair portion of my week away from me when it came out. "In this action-packed twin-stick shooter, you are tasked with shooting your way through 80 levels, 100 missions, and waves of monsters in order to save, well, a little kitten. It's hardly worth the effort, if truth be told. Thankfully, though, as the saviour of all things fluffy, you have a fully stocked armoury full of 12 upgradable weapons. So, at least you can have some fun along the way." Download it now and get the best free apps every day from the Free AppAlliance app.…

Fieldrunners 2 updated for Halloween

Fieldrunners 2 updated for Halloween

Subatomic Studios has updated the really rather brilliant Fieldrunners 2 just in time for Halloween, adding in a new Jack O'Lantern tower that spews out powerful gouts of fire. Called the BOOM-kin tower, the spooky new weapon in your arsenal isn't the only new addition to the game. There have been some quite extensive tweaks to the game too to increase loading time and optimise performance. As well as the behind the scenes stuff, the game now features iCloud saves, so you can play on one iOS device, and pick up where you left off on another, even crossing your saves between the iPad and IPhone versions. The updated version of the app should be in the App Store right about now, and if yo…

Heroes & Castles - Control Your Army From The Battlefield

Heroes & Castles - Control Your Army From The Battlefield

While we wait for more news about Foursaken Media's upcoming release of N.Y. Zombies 2, the team is proud to show off another of their projects - Heroes & Castles. Players are placed right down on the battlefield, selecting from one of three heroes (Warrior, Paladin or Engineer), and directing their forces while fending off foes. In a way it reminds me of the Dynasty Warriors formula, albeit with more of a real-time strategy edge. Players may find themselve deep in battle with a horde of enemies where "you'll look to your right as 20 Peons hold the line against skeleton warriors... on your left 2 giants smash their clubs into a goblin horde, knocking them 20 feet back in all direction…

Gamelion releases League of Heroes

Gamelion, the developer behind Monster Shooter and Doodle Fit has released a new free-to-play hack and slasher called League of Heroes. Set in a rich fantasy universe populated with gorgeous, hand drawn 2D sprites, the game looks to riff on the likes of Zelda, giving you an isometric world to attack with your trusty weapon. The game offers enormous boss battles, huge hordes of enemies for you to slice and dice your way through, and a huge number of quests to sate the adventurer's urge in all of us. League of Heroes is available right now from the App Store for nothing at all, and we've embedded a trailer below so you can get a taste of the brightly coloured fantasy violence you're going…

FAA's Free App of the Day – Random Heroes

Sadly we just missed out on a deal for Super Crate Box, but for those after another solid platformer, check out the Free App Alliance's latest pick! "Random Heroes is another excellent platformer from Ravenous Games. That's the studio responsible for equally excellent League of Evil 1 and 2. Basically, you have to take control of one of 15 different heroes, and attempt to save the world across more than 30 levels. You have guns and other weapons to help you out, but don't expect a walk in the park - this is one tricky game." Trailer: You can check out our review of Random Heroes here (note the game has been updated since this release - so take the plunge!) Download…

Super Meat Boy iOS delayed

The iOS version of Team Meat's super difficult, super gory platformer Super Meat Boy has been delayed for a little while as the two man dev team focus on a different project. Speaking on their blog, the team said that while the game would see the light of day on iOS devices soon, new cat mutating title Mewgenics was going to be their focus for the time being. There's no word yet on whether Mewgenics will appear on iOS devices, but Team Meat moved to reassure fans of their hardcore platformer that Super Meat Boy would definitely rear its meaty head on iOS. "SMB fans need not worry, the new Super Meat Boy (SMB:TG) is still in dev, just on hold till we squeeze this little kitten out of our…

Falling...and Falling

While a lot of games based on vertical movement have you jumping ever highwards, Freedom Fall has decided to travel in the other direction. Being released on the App Store sometime in mid-November, this gameplay and art style look good enough to make this an enjoyable experience. Of course looks can be decieving, but we'll wait till it's out to pass judgement. Here's the trailer.…

According to a page from the digital strategy guide for Borderlands 2 dug up by IGN, It looks like 2K's post apocalyptic RPG/FPS hybrid is set to make its bow on mobile devices. Borderlands Legends takes place in the same rich universe as its console brethren, and features Roland, Lilith, Mordecai, and Brick - the stars of the original Borderlands - in a wave based battle built specifically for iOS devices. Hands On Preview For Punch Quest

Hands On Preview For Punch Quest

With Dave catching up on work and releases flying at me left and right the usual Friday Wrap-Up has been delayed, but fear not for I have something just as good - a hands-on preview! Lets not beat around the bush here, Punch Quest from Rocketcat Games owes much of its DNA to that of Jetpack Joyride from Halfbrick Studios. That said, what's on offer is a distinctly different beast even if it does fall in to the rather broad 'auto-runner' category that has been a near constant on the App Store for a long time. However, Punch Quest 'gets it'. From the instant you load up and hit start the game starts blaring at you with colorful explosions everywhere; enemies flying left and right a…

Infinity Blade Dungeons delayed until next year

If you've been looking forward to some Infinity Blade style dungeon crawling this year, then we've got bad news for you. According to AllThingsD Epic and Impossible Studio's Diablo aping hack and slasher has been put back until 2013. “Ever since the talented team at Impossible Studios got their hands on Infinity Blade: Dungeons, they’ve been busy adding their great ideas to the game,” spokesman Wes Phillips told the website. “There was also the matter of getting the Impossible Studios team up and running with desks, chairs, staplers and computers. The logistics of a new studio and implementing all these great ideas required a little extra time, so Infinity Blade:…
