Deus Ex: The Fall to be released this Thursday

The middle of the year usually has the reputation of being rather barren when it comes to big releases, but with Limbo last week and now Deus Ex: The Fall this week, that's becoming untrue. The looks to be the true sequel to the excellent Deus Ex: Human Revolution, is iPad exclusive and will cost $6.99. The game looks absolutely great in the trailers, but the big question will be how it controls and performs on the hardware. Stay tuned for our review. In the meantime you can tide yourself over by watching the announcement trailer again.…

The Shadow and the Flame Release Date

Back in April I excitedly wrote about Ubisoft's upcoming remake to Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame. I loved the reimagining of the first title years ago, and have high hopes for this one as well. We know its release date now, it's the 25th of July. To tide you over, here's the trailer again. I can't wait to give it a go!…

Tiny Thief gets Release Date

Icebreaker: a Viking Voyage was the first game to come out under the heading of Rovio's new publishing firm Rovio Stars. Tiny Thief is the second. It will be released next week on July 11th. It's certainly the more potentially interesting of the two in my eyes, but we'll see how it plays upon release. Mark your calendars and in the meantime have a look at the trailer again.…

Greedy Dwarf Rolling into the App Store This Thursday

Greedy Dwarf Rolling into the App Store This Thursday

The glut of endless runners has started to fade away as time goes on, so usually that means that any new release in a previously saturated genre will have something new and novel to add to the mechanics already in place. While Greedy Dwarf doesn't look to set the world on fire, its melding of 3D and side scrolling endless runners combined with mine cart action looks like a lot of fun. Have a look at the trailer and see what we mean when the gameplay starts. The game launches for $0.99 and boasts no in-app purchases.…

Riptide GP2

Riptide GP2

It's been a while since Vector Unit released the original Riptide GP on the App Store (check out our review here). It was a very well made jetski racer with beautiful presentation and solid controls. The sequel looks to continue this tradition with the inclusion of multiplayer (an omission from the first game), and controller support. The following is the teaser trailer... No word on a release date as of yet, but we'll keep you posted.…

The Walking Dead: 400 Days out on June 11th

The Walking Dead: 400 Days out on June 11th

The iOS version at least. That week has daily releases on every platform under the sun with our Apple devices ending the festivities. Now this is DLC for the original game and covers five seperate stories. The iOS port is not up to the standards of the PC or console versions, but it is servicable, and we expect this to be no different. If you enjoyed the first season, this is a no-brainer. There is a reason that The Walking Dead won so many awards last year for the emotional investment it took out of most of those who played it without offering much in the way of gameplay outside some really tough moral choices. We'll see what 400 Days adds to what transpired at the end. Here's th…

Release date for Plants vs. Zombies 2 pushed back

Release date for Plants vs. Zombies 2 pushed back

Yes, it looks like the July 18th release date of Plants vs. Zombies 2 is going to have to be pushed back until later in the summer. A particular reason has not yet been given, just that developer PopCap want to "make sure the game lives up to fan's expectations". Pushing back a release date can do a lot of good, as it gives the team time to remove bugs, clean up the programming for a smoother experience, and put an all round polish on their release. This highly anticipated follow-up is not going to lose its potential audience by due to a one month delay, especially when that delay could be beneficial to the overall quality. So sit tight, and look forward to playing a (hopefully) bug-f…

Limbo out on iOS Next Week

Some of you will be familiar with Limbo, a puzzle platformer released on XBLA in 2010 that has been ported to both the PSN, PC, and Mac. It's known for its striking monochromatic art style, generous checkpoint system and punishing trial and error puzzle gameplay. Here's a trailer of the original release. Here's hoping that the controls are well executed on the touch screen. We'll certainly let you now how the port holds up next week.…

Sprinkle Islands putting the fire out on July 11th

Sprinkle Islands putting the fire out on July 11th

It's been two years since the release of the original Sprinkle (check out our review here), and now Mediocre Games are about to release the follow-up, titled Sprinkle Islands. It looks to feature the same interesting water based physics of the original, but has undergone an aesthetic change that makes aspects of the game look a little bit like claymation, which is of course amazing. Check out the trailer below and keep a look out for this as it releases on July 11th.…

Dark Nebula - Episode One HD re-release

Ah Dark Nebula, the review of your first episode takes us back to a simpler time in Appspy's history. A time when the videos were voiced by a young go-getter named Dave and the content and word choice of our writing had a lot of room in which to grow and mature. Go back and relive the memories if you dare. Now that this trip down memory lane has ended, you might be interested to know that Dark Nebula is getting a HD makeover with twelve levels of all new content. Not only that, but it's been confirmed that episode three is finally on its way. Have a look at the trailer. It is available on the App Store now for $0.99[App Store Link]…

League of Evil 3

News By Dave Flodine, 1 year, 11 months ago
League of Evil 3

The first two League of Evil games are known for popularizing the 'tough as nails' platformer on the iOS, and have been quite successful at it with their pixel style and strong controls. Now this week we see the release of the third installment, and suprisingly a whole new art style along with it. Have a look at the trailer. It looks to have a strong focus on character customisation, and it includes video replays that I'm sure can be shared. We'll certainly know more once the game is out and we review it.…

Eden to GREEN

Eden to GREEN

It's always nice to see console developers try their hand at mobile games. It can breed cynicism when they create a game in an established genre like tower defence, but iNiS (with such games as Gitaroo Man and Elite Beat Agents in their catalogue) are no strangers to creating odd yet enjoyable play experiences. Eden to GREEN looks to continue this trend. Now, even though the gameplay trailer below shows the game running on Android devices, it is also released for iOS and is available right now. Here's the gameplay video: It's a war of plants and machines. The game sprouts an interesting mechanic where you can only plant new towers in the radius offered by others, limi…

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition Removed from App Store

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition Removed from App Store

It seems not only has Baldur's Gate: Enhanched Edition been removed from the App Store under the vague reasoning of "contractual issues", this has halted the latest game patch and development on the sequel as well. Hopefully whatever is causing this can be sorted out quickly. After all the hard work from the developers to polish up and port this classic RPG the last thing anyone wants is a legal issue tearing things down. We will have to wait and see what happens. [Website letter]…

Rovio publishes Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage

Rovio publishes Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage

With Angry Birds steward Rovio now taking smaller devs under its expansive wings, we're going to see some new iOS games with some seriously flashy trailers. The first game to get the Rovio Stars big budget video treatment is Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage. It's a 3D physics puzzler that bears a passing resemblance to Rovio's own bird-flinging franchise. However, instead of catapulting fowl towards pigs, you must swipe blocks of ice to free your viking buddies from their frosty tombs. You won't just be liberating Nordic warriors, though. There are chests of treasure to grab, quests to complete, and bosses to fight along the way. We suggest you have a look at the Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage t…
