Gamevil's Arel Wars 2 Slated for Release Sometime in the Next Month

Arel Wars 2 is the sequel to Gamevil's original entry into the head-to-head castle defense genre. From the trailer we can see that the game contains their usual high visual and audio presentation, along with lots of upgrading, different units, and a continuation of the kingdom of Drusilla. It looks like a lot of fun. Gamevil's games can be pretty grind heavy though so we'll have to see if their upgrading mechanics have decent progression, or failing that, that the battle system is fun enough to hold our interest. No release date has been confirmed, but it should be out before the end of August.…

Follow the Rabbit Hits the App Store This Week

The latest by Gamega and Armor Games, this puzzle game of chase and block pushing doesn't look like much on the surface from the visuals, but keep watching the trailer. As you get an idea of how the game is played, and what's in store throughout the levels, your interest might pick up a little bit. Mine sure did. This could be quite the fun little puzzle game. We'll know for sure when it hits the App Store on Thursday the 19th.…

Puzzle Adventure game Unmechanical Looks Promising

Slated to release sometime around the mid to end of August, Unmechanical looks like a game to keep your eyes on. Have a look at the trailer. Kind of having a Machinarium vibe, there's lots of puzzles to solve and an atmospheric world to explore. If the controls work out well, this looks like it could be a winner.…

It features asyncronous combat for online multiplayer across platforms with over seventy maps, and the main campaign has fifty missions. Synesthetic: Audiosurf + Boost

Audiosurf is one of my favourite games on PC. Over the years countless hours have been put into riding music along with trippy visuals. Since then more than a couple games have tried to become the Audiosurf of the mobile gaming platform, but at least in my opinion, they have fallen short. Cue Synesthetic, a game that will be released July 19th, that from the trailer combines Audiosurf with Boost. Have a look yourself. I guess we'll know how it stacks up when the game releases further on in the month.…

Tiny Wings 2.0 Has Arrived!

Tiny Wings 2 has finally dropped on to the App Store. Aside from the very clever teaser trailer, we can say that the 2.0 update is free for those who own the original and that it's gonna be annoyingly addictive! Better still, if you happen to own an iPad, grab the new HD version to take advantage of all that screen space. iCloud is enabled for keeping progress between iPhone and iPad devices. Our review of the updated and iPad versions will be up later in the day, so keep an eye out for it! [Tiny Wings HD iTunes]…

Levee en Masse out on iPad, iPhone Version Coming Soon

Levee en Masse is a historical strategy game about the French revolution. From the trailer it looks like the battles take their cues from Risk, with the map having a unique look to it. From the sound of the press release, it sounds like its a single player only game, but history and strategy buffs should get some milage out of such a title.…

Friday News Wrap-Up 6 July 2012

For those who missed out on the message last week, I was away due to a friend's wedding - it was at a winery, so you'll have to forgive me for taking the time off to indulge myself with copious amounts of fermented juice. In other news, I've also picked up an iPad 3 for our office, which means instead of the sporadic use I've had for testing purposes, we can finally start recording footage. It's good news all-round so lets jump right in to the Friday Wrap-Up for the 6th of July, 2012. Street Fighter X Tekken - Out This SummerWe only briefly touched on the E3 rumors of Capcom developing an iOS version of their latest fighting title, but the developer has since confirmed that the ga…

Fishing Joy 2 Reeling into the App Store on July 12th

The original Fishing Joy was quite a success for Punchbox Studios with over eighty five million downloads. Now they've set their sights on delivering a worthy sequel, and that sequel will be out on July 12th. Here's the trailer... Looking like a cross between a relaxing fishing title and a shooter, this definitely looks interesting enough to keep an eye out for. Aside from the crisp underwater graphics bursting with sealife, there looks to be a lot of content, complete with multipliers, coin collection and mini-games. We'll know more when it drops next week.…

Bounty Racer Released on July 12th

Bounty Racer Released on July 12th

What strikes me first watching the trailer for Bounty Racer (which is posted below) is the visual similarities to a game i loved growing up called Big Red Racing. Something about the sparse yet inviting mountainous terrain. Bounty Racer offers a myriad of challenges and courses along with four player online multiplayer. Whether the racing itself is enticing remains to be seen, but as it drops next week, it won't take long to find out.…

iMpulse Controller for Smart Phones

iMpulse Controller for Smart Phones

In a lot of our reviews, you would have heard us bemoan the lack of responsive controls, especially on games that are ports from console or PC where you have a keyboard or controller to deal with. With that in mind, it's always neat to see a company create a controller to interface with smart phones, and the iMpulse is such a device. Touted as small and wireless, this controller fits on your keyring, has USB connection as well as long battery life. Since it's supposed to go on your keychain, your phone can help you find your keys if you misplace them. While sounding good in theory, developers need to make their games compatible with the device, and its tiny frame might prove uncomfortable…

Preview of Gets to the Exit

[edit] The game is now available in the App Store. [Link] Developers Roll7 are proud to announce their upcoming title Gets to the End. While the name itself may be self explanatory, it's a game that takes its cue from Lemmings, except instead of controlling the tribesmen, you control the environment. It looks quite amusing, and we'll keep you updated on when it's slated to hit the app store. In the meantime, here's the trailer...…

The Ruins Guild out on iOS soon

Already out on Android, and coming to iOS, The Runes Guild is a hack and slash game from Potugese developer, WorkEffective. Here's the launch trailer. It looks kind of generic fantasy with some camera oddities, but the if the gameplay and loot gathering is solid, this could be a great addition to the iOS library. We shall see.…
