Explore the Universe with Solar Walk 2.0

We don't often cover educational apps here at Appspy, and that's a shame because all who work here are believers in the power of teaching through interactivity. It's nice once and a while to find such an app that approaches its subject in an accessible, entertaining and informative way. Solar Walk has just recieved its 2.0 update and looks like a fantastic and affordable app to interest and educate on the subject of astronomy. Take a look at this trailer highlighting some of the features. [iPhone link][iPad link]…

Mad Skills BMX Trailer

Developer Turborilla has taken a slightly different approach when it comes to marketing the upcoming release of Mad Skills BMX. Most times a company will stick with the tried-and-true method of fast-editing and lots of buzzwords like 'dynamic' and 'radical' and 'synergistic' (or maybe I'm thinking of the 80s), but Turborilla has other plans... they have a story to tell: . Best of all we'll be getting our pudgy little hands on a copy of the game soon, so we'll be able to let you know as soon as possible what we think of the title. For everyone else the game will be out on Thursday, 16th of August, 2012. [Mad Skills BMX Trailer - Youtube / Turborilla]…

On the Wind Update

Back in April, On the Wind was released that took a relaxed approach to the endless runner genre. The first update for the game is now live, and to celebrate, the game has recieved a 50% price drop. The update adds two new modes both catering to those who wished for an easier and more difficult experience. Zen mode is a way to just enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the game without worrying about the challenge, and for those who have mastered the game, EX mode makes things more difficult. If you missed our review, go take a look. On the Wind is a unique experience if nothing else, and well worth a go, especially with the new content and price drop.[App Store Link]…

You Have an iPad, You have a Gaming Table

besides having a delightful title, porTable is an app for the iPad that gives you a table for playing games like cards and dominoes with more games to be added in future updates. Watching the trailer, you see that it has some clever physics, and just playing around with the cards and dominoes could be fun, but the real joy is at the end when you add you own iPhone into the mix for games like Poker. Sometimes a Humorous Trailer is all you Need

Toybox isn't being released till August 23rd, but they have a trailer out to drum up interest for the game. The trailer is... well... have a look for yourself. The game itself which is briefly shown at the end is a combination of a match three title and a shoot em up. If the humour of the trailer is interjected into the game as well, we could have an enjoyable release to look forward to at the end of the month.…

Raptisoft On Solomon Dark And Its Future

In the past, AppSpy has been very clear about how much it loves Raptisoft's work, be it Solomon's Keep, Boneyard or even quirkier titles like Robot Wants Kitty. As such, the news of an updated and expanded version of Boneyard, dubbed 'Solomon's Dark', has been welcomed with open arms and even snippets such as the following video can't sate our excitement. What makes the news even better is the circumstances under which Raptisoft has been making the game - and indeed all of its games - with one man running the show (albeit with outside help as needed). In a fascinating interview with AppsJP, John Raptis discusses his beginnings in developing for the App Store; why the Solomon serie…

Retro Graphics of a Different Sort

This Thursday, Kid Vector releases in the App Store. A 2d platformer envoking retro art and music, but the one difference is that while most retro games go for pixel art, this one has vectors! Doesn't look like much is new gameplay wise, but as long as the controls are solid, it should satsify the itch of platforming fans.…
