Big Square Enix Port Released over the Weekend

Big Square Enix Port Released over the Weekend

The rumours of the release were leaked late last week, but we wanted to wait for confimation, and now we have it. Square Enix are porting a version of The World Ends With You to iOS devices. It's titled Solo remix, and is available for iPhone 4 and iPad 2 users. It will set you back about $18 - $20 depending on version and region. The original DS version is one of my favourite RPGs of the last 10 years so it's nice to see a mobile port. I wonder how they designed around the single screen of the iPhone and iPad, as it was the duel screen combat that made the game so unique and memorable. We'll find out when our review of this title goes up sometime this week![The World Ends With Y…

Friday News Wrap-Up 24 August 2012

I won't jump the gun just yet, but the Pick of the Week is a dead give away this week, so there's no need to skip all the way there straight away. Instead, sit back and relax and listen to the news of the week that was in AppSpy's Friday News-Wrap Up for the 24th of August, 2012. Warhammer Quest - By Rodeo Games, out next SpringI had to have a cold shower after finding out about this ditty. Board games have been doing very well on the App Store, if only because they provide minimal changes from the real thing and are often much cheaper to invest in. Warhammer Quest from Games Workshop is an absolute classic, but it also mimics a gameplay style we all know and may even love - turn-…

Infinite Warrior Out in the App Store September 6th

In the film world, one way to pitch an idea is by combining two existing movies and mushing them together. This way of looking at new properties is useful when it comes to games as well, and the best way to describe Infinite Warrior is mixing the endless runner genre with Infinity Blade. Have a look at the trailer. The game is out at the start of next month.[Empty Flask Games]…

Grabbity caught our eye by being a platformer based entirely around tilt. Have a look at the trailer and see what we mean. This looks like it'll be a lot of fun, and it's got great presentation to boot. It will be out September 6th.…

Bag It! Updates With A New Game Mode And 3D!

We at AppSpy are never afraid to wear our love of a game on our sleeves and Hidden Variable's 'Bag It!' is no exception, receiving high praise not only from us, but from most major reviewers . After a recent successful promotion, the developers have updated the game with a brand new mode called 'Seedy's Booty' featuring all new gameplay, power-ups and best of all... 3D! That's right, no longer are the items in the shopping bag confined to the rigours of a 2D plane as they explode out of the screen as you make matches. Check out the gameplay footage here: As part of the update we have three codes to give away - keep an eye on our Twitter feed as we drop the codes one by one ov…

Friday News Wrap-Up 17 August 2012

Man... where has the year gone? We're already two thirds of the way through 2012; the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini is on the horizon; and we haven't even seen the biggest releases hit yet. I may just be falling in to the cycle of hype, but I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for us. For now lets cover the news of the last week or so in the Friday News Wrap-Up for the 17th of August, 2012. Real Boxing - Unreal graphicsPolish developer Vivid Games may be better known for titles like Shoot to Kill or (my personal favorite) the re-release of Speedball 2 for the iOS platform. The prolific studio isn't slowing down its pace one iota and is joining the Unreal Engine trai…

Explore the Universe with Solar Walk 2.0

We don't often cover educational apps here at Appspy, and that's a shame because all who work here are believers in the power of teaching through interactivity. It's nice once and a while to find such an app that approaches its subject in an accessible, entertaining and informative way. Solar Walk has just recieved its 2.0 update and looks like a fantastic and affordable app to interest and educate on the subject of astronomy. Take a look at this trailer highlighting some of the features. [iPhone link][iPad link]…

Space Inflaters: Popping into the App Store this Thursday

Wow, it looks like Digdug has launched himself into space and is serving up his horrific sense of inflatable justice on some Space Invaders. Watch the trailer to see what i mean. This is a free app with in-app purchases. It looks like it could be a fun shmup, especially with having to pop enemies after shooting them to gain score. Try it out for yourselves after Thursday and let us know what you think!…

Mad Skills BMX Trailer

Mad Skills BMX Trailer

Developer Turborilla has taken a slightly different approach when it comes to marketing the upcoming release of Mad Skills BMX. Most times a company will stick with the tried-and-true method of fast-editing and lots of buzzwords like 'dynamic' and 'radical' and 'synergistic' (or maybe I'm thinking of the 80s), but Turborilla has other plans... they have a story to tell: . Best of all we'll be getting our pudgy little hands on a copy of the game soon, so we'll be able to let you know as soon as possible what we think of the title. For everyone else the game will be out on Thursday, 16th of August, 2012. [Mad Skills BMX Trailer - Youtube / Turborilla]…

On the Wind Update

On the Wind Update

Back in April, On the Wind was released that took a relaxed approach to the endless runner genre. The first update for the game is now live, and to celebrate, the game has recieved a 50% price drop. The update adds two new modes both catering to those who wished for an easier and more difficult experience. Zen mode is a way to just enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the game without worrying about the challenge, and for those who have mastered the game, EX mode makes things more difficult. If you missed our review, go take a look. On the Wind is a unique experience if nothing else, and well worth a go, especially with the new content and price drop.[App Store Link]…

You Have an iPad, You have a Gaming Table

You Have an iPad, You have a Gaming Table

besides having a delightful title, porTable is an app for the iPad that gives you a table for playing games like cards and dominoes with more games to be added in future updates. Watching the trailer, you see that it has some clever physics, and just playing around with the cards and dominoes could be fun, but the real joy is at the end when you add you own iPhone into the mix for games like Poker. Sometimes a Humorous Trailer is all you Need

Toybox isn't being released till August 23rd, but they have a trailer out to drum up interest for the game. The trailer is... well... have a look for yourself. The game itself which is briefly shown at the end is a combination of a match three title and a shoot em up. If the humour of the trailer is interjected into the game as well, we could have an enjoyable release to look forward to at the end of the month.…
