The Tilt Racer App

The Tilt Racer App

If you enjoy racing games, and I mean really enjoy racing games, you probably have had your eye on one of those fancy steering wheel setups for a while now. You know, the ones with pedals, a gear stick, and realistic rumble? The problem is such a setup is quite expensive and not every racing afficionado can afford such extravagence. Enter the Tilt Racer app. Racing games have had a lot of success on the iOS platform because of tilt controls, and now with this app, you can transfer that control to your PC and any racing game on that platform through your iPhone. Not only can you smoothly steer with your phone, sitting in front of the computer, but there's a simple slider for accel…

Return to Castlerama Trailer

Return to Castlerama Trailer

While Castlerama sounds more like a European music festival, this trailer of the upcoming iOS game is intriguing. It's first person, it looks to have a full world to explore, and it seems to be somewhere between adventure game and western rpg. Have a look at the trailer and see for yourself. While it could do with a little more polish in areas, as a mobile experience it seems to have a lot to offer. Whether they can deliver or not will remain to be seen. The game is shooting for a release date of June 20th.…

Trigger City brings old skool violence to the App Store

Punching people in the face is a terrible pastime, frowned upon by all. Unless you do it in a video game that is, in which case you'll probably be heralded as a hero by a bunch of digital people. That's certainly the case in Trigger City, a game which takes its cues from the past and wears its retro credentials proudly on its rolled up sleeves. Out on the App Store now, the game sees you taking to the streets of the titular city to dish out steaming hot bowls of violent justice. With simple controls, plenty of combos and special moves to master, and 16 levels of side scrolling scrapping to work your way through there's a lot to like about Trigger City. Throw in some motorbike levels and…

Manuganu

Tired of endless runners? How about a regular runner then? Manuganu takes the concept of continuously moving, and turns it into a platformer with three coins to collect, and a really nice visual style. Take a look at the trailer and see for yourself. The game is a one man project (except for the music) by Alper Sarıkaya and should be due out this week on May 16th.…

Abra-Ca-Bacon update hitting Angry Birds Seasons May 16th

After yesterday's update to Bad Piggies the Angry Birds are getting their own back with new content for Angry Birds Seasons hitting the App Store next week. The Abra-Ca-Bacon update brings with it 30 new levels, as well as 6 secret levels to try and unlock, and a whole new way of killing pigs – portals. These magic tunnels suck fowl and debris in at one end before spitting it out somewhere else. Like the Portals in Portal, basically. But with pigs, birds, and crumbling lumps of masonry. It won't cost you anything to get all this extra content, and it'll go live on the App Store on May 16th. You can check out a trailer for the new goodies below.…

Bellyfish has an Addiction

Bellyfish has an Addiction

Also out this week is a little game called Bellyfish that looks kind of in the same wheelhouse as Doodle Jump. What makes me entertained by the premise is you play a fish who has become addicted to oxygen, and growing into a ball of air because of it. Due to the dangers of this addiction, you have to make sure the little guy can travel safely through all the obstacles present. Have a look at the trailer and see what we mean. It's a simple game, but looks to be enjoyable. [App Store Link]…

Dead Effect - A Sci-fi Horror FPS for iOS

Dead Effect - A Sci-fi Horror FPS for iOS

Man that's a lot of shorthand. Now I could be jaded and talk about the game wanting to be Dead Space, what with the 'lonely derelict vessel invaded by unknown horrors' vibe it's got going, but I have to say that watching the trailer kind of impressed me. Have a look... It seems to be a very competent entry into the genre with a high level of presentation. As long as the controls are halfway decent (as no developer has really worked out a way to get an FPS controlling well on iOS), this might be a great portable shooting experience.  Release date is slated somewhere in July or August.…

Dragons to Swarm

Dragons to Swarm

It's always interesting to see the genre trends on the App Store. Once one game makes it big, you have other devs either cashing in or looking to improve the formula. With the success of games like Galcon Labs and Tentacle Wars, Dragon Swarm has been released on the iPad. It's the same kind of strategy title... but with dragons! Have a look at the trailer. This title focuses on multiplayer matches, and it does look pretty nuts. The game got released this week so give it a pick up and tell us what you think if you are so inclined.[App Store Link]…

Bad Piggies gets a new update

Bad Piggies gets a new update

Rovio's Bad Piggies are at it again, with a content update that adds fifteen new levels, two new contraptions, a new sandbox, and a new replay function to the porcine based physics puzzler. The new tools at your disposal are suction cup tyres, which let you drive up walls, and spring loaded boxing gloves that allow you to power your pigs with some well placed punches. Perhaps the biggest draw of the update however is a new replay mode. Here you can record and share your favourite piggy escapades, showing friends across your favourite social networks just how brilliant your plans and contraptions are. The update is live right now on the App Store and it'll cost you nothing at all, which as…

The 10th of May is Carmageddon Day

Everyone's favourite over the top violent racing game is celebrating its release on the 10th of May. How is it celebrating you ask? By having 24 hours as a free app. That's right, if you don't own Carmageddon on iOS, on the 10th of May it will be free. How can you pass up such an offer? Well, if you're still on the fence about the game, check out our review from last year, and that should be enough to lean you in either direction. What other game has a 'cunning stunt bonus'?…

Augmented Reality Jenga

JengAR got release today on the App Store. Are you a fan of toppling tower board game Jenga? Do you own an iPad*? Do you find augmented reality interesting? If you answered "yes" to all those questions, JengAR might interest you. Have a look at the trailer! *The game is available for iPhone as well, but it looks to be much more interesting with the added screen space the iPad provides. And that name is just fun to say. Jengar! [App Store Link]…

Future Building in 2020: My Country - Available Now on the Appstore

Just hitting the App Store yesterday is 2020: My Country, a Simcity-esque game where you need to look after the denizens of the future, protecting them from hazards such as meteor showers and dinosaur. As a bonus, all the character faces are kind of unsettling and creepy looking, at least in my opinion. Have a look at the trailer, and if you like what you see, pick it up on the App Store. Bastion on sale on the App Store

If you haven't played Supergiant Games's breathtakingly good looking RPG Bastion yet then you're running out of excuses because for a limited time it's available on the App Store for the ridiculously cheap price of 99c. In our 5/5 review we described the game as “a wonderful adaption of an outstanding action title and one that feels at home on the App Store thanks to its control modifications”, heaping praise on its stunning visuals and clever controls. There's hours of game to sink your teeth into here, with ten upgradeable weapons to master, and more than forty gorgeous hand drawn environments for you to explore. So if you're after a challenging adventure that'll keep you pla…

Trailer for Dracula 4: The Shadow of the Dragon

Fans of cheesy adventure games on their iOS devices will be happy to hear that a teaser trailer has dropped for Dracula 4, the latest installment in the Dracula series by Microids. We reviewed the first game a long long time ago (back when I was still creating the video content), and I imagine that the pros and cons of that game are mostly relevant for this newest release. One thing is certain... we travel to Budapest! The game is set to come out sometime during the summer this year (that's summer for the northern hemisphere, so within the next couple of months)!…
