Full Review
Anyone familiar with Piyo Blocks will already be somewhat indoctrinated to the kind of carefree fun that seems to run rampant in games by Big Pixel Studios. Meow Meow Happy Fight the latest title from the developer and absolutely no time is wasted in ensuring those playing this twin-stick shooter end up with a huge smile on their faces.
Those familiar with twin-stick shooters can expect nothing out of the ordinary, with the left stick controlling movement and the right aiming your weapon. An option is also available for those just starting out to fire the weapons automatically at enemies. The aim of the game is a simple one: destroy your opponents as many times as possible before the time runs out. In this way the game is much like a Deathmatch, however the AI controlled opponents aren't your typical suicidal enemies and you'll have to out-play them to not only survive, but also to win.
Tying the whole package together is a wonderful neon visual style with modern clean sticker-art style designs. The only disappointment is the obvious lack of a multiplayer mode, but it's easy to understand why it wouldn't be feasible as points earned can be spent on unlocking unique characters that are severely unbalanced, including a vending machine that dispenses death instead of cold beverages.
Meow Meow Happy Fight is a finely crafted bomb of madness that ticks slowly enough to drag you in and before you know it you've wasted more time than you had spare. It's hard not to enjoy this title and is definitely a must-try experience.
