The 5 best games for iPhone and iPad this week - September 15th

It's Friday. I'm going to go climb some mountains later, but in the meantime I suppose I'll create some super hot content for you. That's just the kinda guy I am. Also it's my job, so, I guess that's a reason as well.

Anyway, Friday is when we round up the best games that have come out on the App Store this week. And when I say we, I mean me. There's no one else here. I just like to give off the illusion that I'm working in a high-stakes newsroom, instead of in a corner of my flat surrounded by empty pop bottles.

Fun. You can click on the emboldened names of the games below to head off to the App Store and download them. And if you've seen anything you think people should be getting, feel free to stick it in the comments at the bottom of the article. Cool. Cool cool cool.

Iron Marines

A rich and incredibly well thought out RTS that takes the genre, shakes it up, and makes it fit wonderfully on mobile. Slick, full of things to do, and without the menus and fiddling that normally put people off this sort of thing.

Through the Ages

I'm not going to beat around the bush here, this is an incredibly complex board game adaptation. Seriously, you're going to put an hour in and you won't even have got past the tutorial by that point. But, and this is a big but, there's an awful lot to like here. You're going to have to sink your teeth in to get the most out of it, but it's a bite that's well worth taking.

OPUS: Rocket of Whispers

A gorgeous point and click adventure that's about trying to build a rocket. You're exploring a winter waste, piecing together a spaceship to send the ghosts of the world into space for a proper burial. It's an intriguing story, brilliantly told, and it's as entertaining as it is heart-warming.

Coloristic

A game that's all about dragging coloured blocks around the screen. It's a little more complex than that sounds though, and it throws curve balls at you at a regular rate. There are 60 levels to work your way through, and if you're a fan of puzzlers you're going to lap this one up.

Sprnkls

A sliding block puzzler with a difference. It blends together aspects of match-three games to create something pretty unique. You're definitely going to be scratching your head through this one, but in a pleasant, relaxing way.
