Zombies! Zombies Everywhere!

By , on December 20, 2009

In the mood for a little violence? Or hungry for some brains? Either way the App Store has everything to please those with an urge to fend against those relentless flesh eating machines known as Zombies! There was a time when we thought Zombies had reached the height of their popularity, to be replaced by (sigh) 'Sparkling' Vampires. But no, those living dead fought off the pending wave of Emo Night Walkers with a barrage of great shoot 'em ups! There's no sonnets or deep and meaningful romantic moments for those hungry for flesh.

The game plots are always the same, and the characters have been pulled from every conceivable stereotype, but who cares, they are killing Zombies! Try out a little side scroller action with iZombieland, Run (not a shoot 'em up, but...Zombies!), or Zombieville USA. How bout a bit of Doom, SurrounDEAD, Resident Evil 4, or Call of Duty World At War; Zombies? Whatever you choose, if you're looking to kill Zombies, you will be more than satisfied. There are also some smaller games which involve or are centred on zombies; Zombies vs. Sheep, ZoMbiE city, Undead Attack! Pinball, Skullpogo, and Zombie Pizza. What are you waiting for, grab your chainsaw and start fighting for the human race!

One can only hope that sparkling vampires can quickly revert back to my favorite variety (30 Days of Night variety... and World of Darkness variety) ;)
But for anyone after a more in depth analysis of just why Zombies are so darn awesome for video games check out this *very* long (but super interesting) stream of concious article:
