Zelda and Mario Kart Possibly En Route To iPhone?

By , on August 12, 2011

Well, there's a headline I bet you thought you'd never see.

Under pressure from its investors and feeling the pinch from a recent tough fiscal quarter, Nintendo may - and we can't stress MAY enough here - be considering developing games for the iPhone, according to Bloomberg.

Despite the 3DS maker's president Saturo Iwata stating on record that Ninty will never produce titles for rival platforms during his tenure, money talks, and Apple by comparison have almost got a licence to print money at present.

If the venerable Japanese video game company fails to demonstrate it has the wherewithal and ingenuity for a long-term battle with Apple's increasingly popular portable devices, then it may have to radically rethink its approach.

And we don't mean dramatically slashing the price of its 3DS handheld mere months after launch.

Come on, who wouldn't want to see Mario on the iPhone?
