Sonic Jump leaping on to the App Store

By , on October 17, 2012

Sega is set to release its first smartphone-only Sonic title, Sonic Jump, which sees you leading the blue hedgehog through a variety of vertical levels.

The game plays a lot like Doodle Jump, with the blue speedster leaping whenever he touches a platform and tilts of your device controlling the direction of his jumps.

There are some Sonic-y twists thrown in too, with power ups that give you boosts that are going to be familiar to anyone who's played a Sonic game before, and boss battles against the evil Dr. Eggman.

Sonic Jump should be available from the App Store pretty darn soon, and it'll set you back $1.99.
