Get ready to start your engines: Rovio's brand new kart racer Angry Birds Go! will come screeching onto the App Store on December 11th.

In the first true deviation from the series (Bad Piggies doesn't count - there weren't any birds involved) Angry Birds Go! will let you get behind the wheel of a selection of racing karts, and navigate your favourite aggrevated avian around Piggy Island.

Not only does this signify a change of direction for the series in terms of gameplay, this is the first time we have seen the Angry Birds flock rendered in 3D. As you can see from the debut trailer below, the results are actually pretty impressive.

Given that is an iOS release in the year 2013, Angry Birds Go! will be a free-to-play game. However, you will be able to port new characters into the game via those plastic Telepod thingys which Rovio cooked up for Angry Birds Star Wars II.

There will also be a host of mechandise to accompany the game's launch, including books, stickers, stationary, and anything else which can be emblazoned with a large red bird.

Cynicism aside, this actually looks like it could be a blast - provided the free-to-play aspects are handled correctly. We'll find out once and for all when Angry Birds Go! goes live on December 11th.
