Critically acclaimed strategy game Skulls of the Shogun is finally available on the App Store.

Originally released for Windows 8 last year, this ghoulish take on the turn-based strategy genre puts you in charge of a dead Japanese general. It's up to you to marshal your ghostly army, and cut a swathe of spiritual destruction through the forces of the underworld.

The game's humorous presentation, accessibility, and surprising depth earned it praise from critics and gamers alike. As you can see from the trailer below, it also looks fantastic.

As 17-Bit Studios has kept iOS gamers waiting for so long, it has decided to throw in some bonus content previously only present on the Steam release: an extra island, and the Tanuki Monk character.

That content is in addition to Skulls of the Shogun's 24-level single-player campaign. And, if you want to get your friends involved, you can do battle with up to four other players via the pass-and-play option.

You can download Skulls of the Shogun right now for £2.99 / $4.99.
